    Default Wags Cashier

So I went to my local Wags last night to get (2) boxes of the South Beach Meal Bars. I walked all over the store and could not find them anywhere, not even a blank spot on the shelf (which is what I thought I would find). Finally found them on an endcap near the Pharmacy. I grabbed (1) Thermacare as well as (1) bag of Wags candy (filler) and headed to the check-out and dealt with a smart*** cashier.

    Transaction #1
    1 - Thermacare Single $2.49 Total (earned $2.50 RR)

    Transaction #2
    1 - South Beach Meal Bar $5.99 - $1 IPQ = $4.99 Total (earned $6 RR)
    1 - Wags Bag Candy $.99 - $.50 in-ad Q = $.49 Total
    I used $2.50 RR
    Total $2.98

    Transaction #3
    1 - South Beach meal Bar $5.99 - $1 IPQ = $4.99 Total (earned $6 RR)

Here is my issue... with Transaction #2 I picked up a bag of Wags Sugar Free candy for my filler, which is $1.99 and not $.99... but the in-ad Q did not specify one or the other, only Wags brand candy that was a certain size and the Sugar Free bag I wanted to buy met their Q requirements. Of course it did not work, but I did not put up much of a fight and simply said, "Well, they didn't do a good job with that coupon did they?" The cashier replied, "Well, if you want to get technical, (she pointed to the South Beach ad about RR on next purchase) I could tell you that you have to leave the store before using your RR again." I said, "Are you kidding me? First, you are WRONG. The ad states that you can use the RR ON YOUR NEXT PURCHASE. I could sit here all day making NEW PURCHASES and never leave the store. Second, I'm not going to use the South Beach RR on my next purchase. This is why I hardly shop here anymore. I simply make a comment about the vagueness of your in-store coupon and you fire back with something that is completely unrelated and to make matters worse are rude."

The frustrating part is this all went down within earshot of the new store manager who never walked over to say anything or correct her cashier.

I am done with the Greenfield Wags. My favorite cashier no longer works there and it seems that the only cashiers I deal with now are the coupon unfriendlies, LOL. It's the principle with me. The in-ad Q reads as follows: "W candy 3 - 9.5oz Limit 3". It does not say anything about regular candy only. As a matter of fact, I bought a $.99 bag of W brand Sugar Free Lemon Drops and the in-store Q worked. She was just very rude and it pissed me off. Done with rant.

It constantly amazes me how many people have bad experiences at Walgreens, and I am so glad I have nothing but good ones! Last night I had to run out to get some stuff so I quickly popped into the WAGS and grabbed 8 of the thermacares. I did eight transactions and ended up with eight $2.50RR. He was EXCITED for me, and the additional $2.00 coupons off 2 thermacares were something he thought was pretty good too. The cashier at the front register smiled and said hi to me when I came in. Throughout the store every employee said hi, asked if I needed help, and were curious what deal of the week had brought me in LOL.

In this economy anyone who acts like your store's manager and employee's needs a REAL wakeup call. There are too many hungry people looking for work for any company to have to put up with bad employees who tear down their name brand. You might want to contact corporate and find out who the district manager is, let them know about how you feel, and tell them how much you spend (pre coupon) weekly. Point out the loss of that revenue affects HIS bottom line.. well.. you know the drill!

DD, I normally have nothing but positive experiences at my local Wags, and even write about them on here. That's why last night's trip was so disappointing. Usually the manager asks me what the big deals are and should she order extras of anything for mid-week delivery. Maybe I just caught this cashier on a bad night, but there were no friendly faces last night.

I have always received friendly service at my local Wags. However, I have experienced rude customer service at other retailers. I agree with DD that you should let upper management know. I work in management for a retailer and I always follow through on customer complaints - bad customer experiences hurts business. I would much rather have a customer contact me if they've had a bad experience at my place and give me a chance to resolve it for them than lose that customer and have them spread the word (which is easy to do today with all the social forums out there).
