My dh is a manager at walgreens and for a while they've been discussing in meetings about a new store floor plan idea to help the store seem more "inviting" it will have it's pros and cons, the main visual difference being that they are going to start store by store taking the shelves down to "view overs" which means the shelves that have stuff piled on top of them will be shortened so that customers can actually see OVER the shelf. This apparently makes customers feel less overwhelmed and gives them a more inviting shopping experience (i think it's mumbo jumbo lol, i like my shelves stacked and packed personally, why do they think so many ppl shop at bulk stores like Sam's club, but i guess it is supposed to be a 'drug store'..meh..)
Anyway, This means that they will stop carrying aprox. 28% of the items they have been carrying and will be putting these items on clearance a few at the time. Tomorrow my dh will be marking 9 double roll charmin down to $1.87 (with the $.25 q in the PG 5/8 that's not a 'bad' price since retail is $5.99 -see i never get tp free lol-) in addition Browny 8 roll paper towels reg. $10.99 will be $2.19, Bounty 6 roll reg $8.99 will be $2.49( these have qs also mine are a measly $.25 again lol) But for ME these are great prices.. there are tons of other items like Hair dye, Shampoos (because they will start carrying a limited "size" and brands of these items) make up, all marked with those "Last Chance" stickers.
They are doing this process slowly so that they won't have a "mass" of clearance when they change their shelves, since they'll have no room to display it even for clearance sale, so i'd really be checking these orange tags over the next few months. The store in a town an hour away has already changed to the new design so it probably won't be long before it's in a your walgreens. Just thought i'd give ppl an FYI
