It's been awhile back but the lady up front got upset at me when I just got some MM's as a filler, and then went to Cosmetics to check out. She stopped me all pouty and said that the cashiers get "Credit" for the number they sell.
What kinda credit is what I should have asked her. And I have noticed that they always offer something to you up front, so I don't question it.
