So I put my plan together on Monday night because a friend of mine wanted me to take him to get his Sister a Bday card.
So off on Tuesday to Walgreens we went, I left him in the card section while I went to do my shopping. I was going to get him to do the razor deal, and show him about RR's for his card. That was the plan anyway. There were no Razors, on Tuesday morning! But, I wasn't woried because I had talked with the DM about this and was told that a raincheck can be written issuing a GC in the amount of RR. So, I asked the new manager "Could I please have a raincheck on the razors?", and here we go: She says "We don't write raincheck's on FREE items." I tell her that the raincheck could be written for the full amount with a GC amount of the RR included if there was no stock available, per Ryan. She says "Ryan, Ryan who? I don't know who you are talking about." I looked at the nice cashier standing beside her whom I know has been there forever, and say "Ryan, the District Manager.", and the nice cashier nods her head and says very quietly "That is his name.". The manager is really uptight now, and on the DEFENSIVE! She says, "Oh, I'll be back". and just leaves! Not saying anything but that, and walks off in a huff. So I set off to find my friend and see if there is any clearance stuff. I find abunch of clearance books! I was so happy. There was one that was the last one on the shelf with a clearance tag stuck right to it. A Tonka Truck talking book, that 3yold DS would have loved! So, I go to cosmetics to start checking out, and the book is in the first transaction. The book won't scan, so she is looking at the clearance tag to hand ring it, and says the sticker # and the book # don't match, she was going to have to get the manager again. And all the while a man with a return had gathered behind me. So, I tell the nice cashier to go ahead and take care of the man, since I had to wait on the manager anyway. So she calls over the phone for a manager for a return. It took quite some time and 3 calls for the manager to finally return to the counter. As she was walking up the person with the man with the return asks where the flip flops are, and she tells them that there is none, and I knew better because there were some on the clearance aisle when I was looking at book, so I tell the man where they are at, and boy did that get the evil eye from the manager!! She takes care of the return, and then it is my turn. The cashier asks about the book first. The manager says if the #'s don't match up then it is full price. I say but it isn't even ringing, and all kinds of books back there are on clearance, how do you know that this book isn't one of them? She says in a very mean tone, like I would talk to a child that needs a time out or something "The book is $6.99!" I said very politely that I didn't want it at that price. She then proceeds to tell me that she didn't think my raincheck story "Sounded quite right" so she said she called another manager and "They have never heard of writing a raincheck that way" I told her I had just went through this about 3 weeks ago, and talked to a blonde manager about what Ryan had told me. She says "What blonde? There is alot of blondes I don't know who you are talking about." I told her I don't know all of ya'lls names. I told her I could call Ryan if she wanted me to, and pulled my phone out and started looking up his number. She went off. She says "You actually have him on speed dial?", as it is any of her business. I say "I use my phone as my phone book, it has about 500 numbers in it." She says "Well, you must have a lot of time to use the phone, I only have about 20". In a really super snotty way, all inclusive with massive eyerolling and snarling. I tell her "Ma'am I am a designer and have all of my business contacts in here. Is there a problem?" She says, "I''ll leave while you call him, and I'll be back". I left my cart load of stuff sit and walked out the door. Once in the car I finally calmed down enough to call the DM, and low and behold the guy had given me the FAX number as his number!!! So, I called corporate, and they tried to hook me up with him directly but to no avail, so they say they sent him an email, and he should call me back, but here it is Friday and still no call! I do not like being told "Your story doesn't sound quite right!", sounds just like she called me a liar! At least I feel satisfied that they get no more of my money until they get her straightened out! Her city attitude may be tolerated where ever she came from, but she needs to learn she is in a rural area now! Our word of mouth about customer service travels around town alot quicker, with less customers to pick from!

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this crap. I don't have many stores to choose from, but i AM VERY THANKFUL for my stores when I read stories like yours. I don't think anyone should be made to feel like crap over trying to save money to provide for our families a little better.

I think you handled her perfectly....she wouldn't last a week out here in the swamp where I live if she acted that way...(just another reason I rarely shop Walgreens except for PHOTO stuff....You go Girl..)

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time at your WAGS as well.
My little girl bought a toy that has broken already, and today when we went to the parts store (right next to WAGS) she was beggin to take the toy back and get her money so she can get something else, and I had to tell her, "Honey, we are not going back in there until the way Mommy was treated is made right." Do you think I told her the right thing, or am I being too stubborn?

oh man, my sis-in-law has had it out with the manager at Wags several times and has called corp. several times. She still continues to shop there though. Sorry about your experience. I'd say that definately deserves another call and/or email to corp. so they know how one of their managers is treating people. She doesn't deserve to be in a position like that.
I'm angry with you!!!

I don't suppose unless there are a LOT of complaints that corp will really do anything about a rude employee, be it a cashier or a manager. And I hate to say it but the XX of $ you spend there or now won't spend there probably won't make or break their bottom line. But you don't need the aggrivation so don't shop there.
As for "city attitude", I am not sure what you mean by that as I live in a fairly large city and rude is not acceptable here either. Bad manners are bad manners no matter where you are. Although it's frustrating when cashiers and even managers don't clearly understand their own policies I don't begrudge someone for doing what they believe is correct but there is NEVER a time when being rude and unprofessional is OK. But don't let this get you down, if you do, that (fill in the blank) wins again!!!! |

No offense was intended to ya'll about "the city attitude" and I apologize if I offended you.
Our entire COUNTY has a population of around 30 thousand, the town of which the WAGS is in is the main shopping town for the entire COUNTY, so she is dealing with extremely rural customers. Most customers drive more than 1/2 hour to get to town, as do I, that is why my trips are so hugh and spread out. With only 30 thousand potential customers in the entire COUNTY, word of mouth travels quickly. Some people from the city, in my past experiences and IMHO, seem to think that one person does not make a difference, but I have over 130 aunts/uncles/cousins, etc. that live in this COUNTY so if I tell 10 people and each of those tell 10 people, and so on it will only take 4 rounds and probably less than a month to have reached nearly 1/2 the ENTIRE COUNTY! When I talked to the DM 3 weeks ago he told me that they are not having the volume @ that store they had anticipated, so customer service would seem to be very high priority! Please accept my apologies for any offense that may have been misconstrued, I did not mean to. So now I'm going to go add up my receipts to see what I've spent (or at least how many transactions) at that WAGS since May when I started couponing so I can have those numbers available for the DM if he EVER CALLS!
