Actually, just about an hour ago I encountered a similar issue.
I bought 4 pringles with the 2 pringles coupons (regular kind and light kind). So... 2 regular pringles- $1 coupon= $1 2 lite pringles- $1 coupon= $1 First I ran into a problem because they said that the coupon was for $1 and the pringles ran up at $0.99. But I asked them to change the price of the item which the manager did hesitantly. I wanted to pay with: $1 RR and another $1 RR But the computer wasn't accepting it. So this time the manager tells me that I have more coupons than I do products. I say that I don't. 4 pringles and 4 coupons. He did his little "manager magic" and then said afterwards "next time I can't adjust the price of the item so you can use the coupon." I politely said "next time I will be returning to my usual Walgreens."

Oh my...this is what I was afraid of That IS 5 items and 5 Qs. I think they just wanted to give you a hard time. UGH! This is the one reason why I have to literally write all my stuff down before I walk into WAGS.Don't let them get you down. Go to another one and get in on the deals!!!!

I've heard just about every other excuse at Wags as to why I can't use a particular Q, but that's a new one. A few weeks ago I got the Maxwell House coffee deal and used a $2/2 Q. The register counted it as one Q and 2 items, so the 2nd coffee was really a filler for using a RR to pay with.
We could start a book with all the many reasons why we've been told our Qs won't work. On my Saturday run, I was told that can't use a Q for greater value than the product. Same Wags but different cashier on any other day will scan Q and system will give overage. This time they adjusted my Q down to the price of the product. Was also told that I have to buy the item in the picture. I was buying the Reach floss and using the IP with the pic of the Listerine. She was less than pleased when I showed her the fine print that it was also valid on Reach floss. Then I got the Scotch Paper Cutters for free because they were clearanced for 75 cents and I had $1 Qs. I think she wasn't happy to start with because the first item she rang up was the $9.99 curling item on super sale for $4.99, and then I had the $3 Wags Q to stack with it. She checked and double checked and triple checked that deal. |

Which in effect lowers the value of your RR. That filler item eats away at your RR. If I'm forced to get a filler item, I try to get something as inexpensive as possible and that I am going to use (tuna, tomato sauce, usually the food items on super sale).
I was so tempted to do several RR deals at Wags the past few weeks since many of them were MMs, but kept telling myself that the short expiration dates on them and the many rules you have to remember just aren't worth the effort. It's too much work to try and redeem them and get maximum value from them. CVS is much easier to navigate, and Rite Aid's SCR program is easy to use. |

OK, the rest of my story is: I called Corporate and asked for policy clarification and explained what had happened. They hadn't a clue what their "policy" was and said they'd have to get a "Higher Manager" to review the situation and call me back within 48 hours. Well, in one hour I got a call from the manager at the WAGS where the "situation" originally occurred. He said (into my answering machine) that he wanted to apologize for the miscommunication that occurred at the register and he'd be happy to take care of it if I could come back and bring in my coupons, and he'd talk to his staff about this situation so it would never happened again. So far, I haven't called back, but I plan to. Meanwhile, I went to another WAGS and found flower seeds and Sesame Street DVDs for 10 cents, so I had more perfect fillers than I needed, and I made my deals there. |
