you could have asked them to price adjust the ITEM up to $1 then use the coupon. remember they can't adjust the coupon... but they can charge what the want for the ITEM.

Next time just take two up to the counter have her ring in both along with the q, then ask her to take one off because you only need one. It will keep the coupon on there and it wont beep, at least in my experience. At some stores they will adjust it for you, but for the ones that dont you have to get a bit creative on them, make sure you also have other items or a filler to catch the .01 overage. HTH

I did the exact same think as nikanek1 - didn't plan on it, but bought 2 cereals for $4.99 each - gave here a $5 Q. It went through fine. Gave her the 2nd $5 Q, and it beeped so she said she couldn't take it, so I saw to just remove the 2nd cereal from my order. No problemo!

Some of these people really need to get up on corporate policy.
I used to do the whole buy two delete it game, but it gets old. Now I just straight face them saying adjust please. I don't know what it is but even when they seem doubtful they believe me. Maybe its the binder....assume I must know what I am talking about as its as big as my head!
