I
repeatedly see posts about customers asking Walgreens to adjust their
coupons so that they may get the item for free, and ultimately the customer being rejected.
I have spoken to Corporate about this scenario, and I am going to post here the
correct procedure, in order to help you get your item(s) for free.
When there is that penny difference with the coupon exceeding the sale item....the correct procedure is.....
1. The manager is supposed to adjust the
sale price of the item, (
NOT THE COUPON!!) and
then to accept your manufacturer coupon.
2. While although the customer does get the item for free, it IS the customer's responsibility to pay any sale taxes for your OOP.
A perfect example of this is the Reynold's wrap that was just .89 cents, and you have the $1 coupon. The manager
should've adjusted their sale price to $1, took your $1 coupon, and you pay the sales tax.
3. Finally, for the ones that are truly running into the
coupon challenged in their individual stores, the coupon policies are
supposed to be maintained in the office, and you may want to suggest that on your next visit.
Hope that helps someone.
