Wags and the Coupon Nazi
Ok, so I went to wags today. And, thankfully I had read the post "Coupon Policy...Defined". Thank you for that btw.
Anyhow, I had the 2 foils with the $1 coupons and some other things. When I got to the checkout the checker there said he couldn't take my coupons. I explained theirs was a store coupon and mine was a MC and yes he could, he just needed to modify the price of the item to $1, so no overage. He said no, I said call the manager. The asst manager said no and called the store manager. The store manager says No and that I'm commiting "Coupon Fraud". I explained it is their policy to price adjust and take the coupon. All the while, the line keeps growing. I told them to call corporate. They said no. I asked for corporates number and told them they could put away my things. Then I get on the phone to corporate and the manager comes running back saying "You were right, I'll have to tell everyone." They rang up my purchase and the checker still didn't want to take my 2 coupons for the foil, but the manager was there and told him to.
I was frustrated and upset to be told I was Committing Fraud. And also upset that I had to be the one to tell them their own policies.
Next time I'll be going to the Wags a few miles away. They are MUCH nicer there.

I have one of those too!
Mine isn't with Wags but with Rite Aid! I was in there for about an hour and 30 minutes shopping the clearance items with my coupons. I had a buggy full of stuff so I get to the register with my c/o coupons, my Rite Aid RX savings card, a $5.00 off a $20.00 purchase coupon, $12.00 rebate check and last but not least my $20.00 gift of savings certificate. Ok! here we go--the cashier starts ringing my stuff up and proceeds to throw it in the bag. I ask her could she please put the fabric softner sheets in a seperate bag.
( the last time a bought them they were put in with food items, bread with fabric softner swirls interesting) she snatches the sheets out and sits them on the counter. She finishes ringing me up and says $62.47. I hand her the Savings Card and she says "that's for prescriptions only!" I said no, it is also for a 10% discount on Rite Aid brand items. She then yells over to the lady in Photo and says can you use this for a discount here? She says yes just scan it! Next is the $5/$20 coupon no problems there! c/o coupons-we're on a roll then BEEP! Non-Matching Item comes up on the screen, she hands it back and says you didn't get that! I said, yes I did so I look in the bag and pull it out! Oh!, we can't take coupons on clearance items! (the last 12 cpns were for clearance items and no prob with them) I state this and tell her to just void that item off! She proceeds to enter the coupon by hand! Ok, another 10 mins wasted-- rebate check-no problem --Last but not least the Gift of Savings Certificate-"You can only use 1 Rite Aid coupon per order!--ok, by this time there is a lineeeeee behind me so I say call the manager please because I wasn't even going to waste my time telling her that it wasn't a coupon! She pages the manager does something to the register and starts ringing up the customer behind me! I explained the situation to the mgr. He goes to her register and tells her that those are a form of pymt & to use the gift certificate key! Order Voided are the only words I heard! I calmly take my purse out of the cart and say "Forget it!, I don't want anything!" Please just give me back my cpns, rebate check, etc...Ok-The mgr says nothing to this lady and I am thinking "Who manages who?" I don't understand "Savings Rage" by random cashiers. Are of these savings coming out of their paycheck and we just don't know it? hmmm...
My nice long letter is on its way to the corp office!

Fools they are. Glad it finally worked out for you.
I did a run tonight and picked up some of the Excedrine which is $1.99 so with my $2IPs the register beeped. I told manager(who knows me) what coporate was telling Cherry. Lovely fella said, "Really?" He said he was going to call them and let me know. He just put my Qs through without an issue. He said we're getting the $2 either way so what's the difference?

Good for you for standing your ground!
I'm always amazed at the "dummy" managers that seem to be chasing away hard working customers that are just trying to save some hard-earned $$ to make our groceries go further.

I had a Coupon Nazi at one of the Kmart's I when to this week, but the next day went to the other Kmart and she was So Sweet. Not a problem at all.
I think they are all just cranky and didn't know what to do to save themselves, but they better learn quick... Coupon use is going up and they need to know that it isn't going to end soon.

Wags
I agree..never really had a problem before but then the Manager was someone I had seen b4...haven't shopped there in awhile.
Anyway, I get two reynold foil and some colgate tp 1.29clearence. I have my 3 $1 coupons plus that WAGS cp. As soon as she saw the 2-$1 for the foil she told me, it will only take one b/c the foil is .89 and I couldn't get overage/ money back, I said, but my total is over that so I won't get overage anyway, so can't u just adjust the cpn
she said no, I said call manager....Manager says you can't, I say why, he says they have a new policy/ computer sotware update and it's not going to take it...they tell if I want to use both then I can't use the WAGS cp. So I'm really trying not get upset nor take too long b/c my kids are waiting in the car. I say take the WAGS cp off and redo my order... she does with the manager standing beside her, then I say please scan the WAGS cpn. The manager looks at me then says just do it b/c there is a line now. NO BEEP NO PROBLEM... he then says to her not to do it anymore; It shouldn't have went through. I nicely told them both to have a nice day and paid my .50 total with a twenty b/c I really didn't have change.

I think we should all be "up in arms" when these idiots pull this junk. Thanks to MOM we are all Professional savers and the retail world better learn to train their staff properly ASAP. Grrrrr....

this is a prime example of cashiers that are not properly trained. we tell all our cashiers in the store that if they are unsure of something to call a manager. it not a big deal. we are there to HELP
