Default Bye Bye ESR?!

This was addressed a while ago in another thread, but I can't find it. I asked at my WAGS yesterday, and they stated that the rebates are definitely going away. They believe they will go through March. She said the company is getting killed with it, and she felt lucky to still have her job. She assured me that the regular weekly sales will still be there.

I'm glad its going and looking forward to what they bring in next. I was never a fan of the rebate program.

Getting killed with it? She feels lucky to still have her job?
Is Wags hurting that bad for money? That doesn't make sense. Anybody have a theory?

This is the technology world, so this is just an "excuse" to get rid of the program. If they can link the purchase to the receipt, then they can link the return to the rebate/receipt.

At the store I work at (not a Walgreens) they can tell if an item on the receipt you are giving me has already been returned.

They can do something similar.

Sorry you received a rebate for this item, so we can't return it. or Sorry this item has been returned and is no longer eligable for the rebate.

If they wanted to keep the program they have ways to do it. This is just an easy out for them.

I haven't heard/read anything. Have there been layoffs? My only theory is people are getting over on the system and it is resulting in big losses.
