It usually states on the coupon that the customer pays the sales tax. In Illinois we pay tax on the pre coupon price.

You are paying the tax on what the item sells for. Unfortunatly, Uncle Sam still wants his money.

That is soo true! They tax us to death! We have to pay tax on even food here. We also have state tax that has to be paid whether or not you even work in the state. My DH works in Florida (no state tax taken), but because we live here in bama, we still have to pay state tax on what he earned. Doesn't make any sense to me. We already pay any other type of tax for living here, like property taxes on house and cars, and sales tax, why on earth do we need to pay state tax when it isn't even earned here? Then on top of that they charge you a fee because you didn't pay all year long out of your pay!?

Then, when you file your taxes they want to know if you've purchased any goods "out of state" that you did not pay AL state tax on...as if!!

Did you read about how they're considering a mileage tax based on your driving habits? My husband drives 70 miles round trip each day for work and we pay $70 alone for his weekly fill-ups. A mileage tax on top of that? SERIOUSLY?!

YES, that's right I totally forgot about that one! Yeah, like as if you would tell them if you had! Could you imagine, someone telling the state every little thing they bought out of state? I can see an automobile or something like that, cause you just can't get around that one, the DMV gets ya for that fast enough! We can not stand any of the dealerships around here! I know all dealerships try to mess you over, but the ones here take the cake!!

No, I didn't hear about mileage tax. Is that only in your state or everywhere? My DH has to drive almost an hour to get to work & then back again! I think that would be wrong, they tax us to death as it is. And the gov is in debt, maybe they are trying to squeeze more money out of us instead of helping us! No surprise there!
