Default My Wal Mart Receipt says...

I made a few WM returns today and when filing my receipts I noticed at the bottom it says..."We gladly accept valid manufacturer & internet coupons."

I had to read that 3 times for it to sink in what I was reading!!!

I started looking, and keep in mind I don't shop at WM much, but I have a return dated 12/16/10 that has it on the receipt, plus the receipt from my returns today, a receipt from my purchases today...and I was in San Marcos last week, so I checked the receipt there...lo and behold, it's on that receipt too!!! I wonder if this is a Texas WM message or a nationwide WM message??????

I just pulled out today's receipts after reading your post. Curiosity got the better of me, so I started looking over my receipts prior to Christmas. I'm glad you pointed this out because I never even noticed this.

All of mine says the exact same thing. "We gladly accept valid manufacturer & internet coupons." (It is located at the bottom, right above the date & time.)

I don't live anywhere near Texas, so I guess it must be a national thing. Thanks for the "heads up" on this.

I didn't even notice this. I have that same exact wording on my receipt dated for 12/5/2010. I live in Georgia.

Sounds national to me. Very interesting wording for their receipts - don't you think? Maybe too much negative publicity, losing out on business, and/or wanting a chunk of the coupon game? Makes you wonder...

I have this on a receipt dated 1/1. Sounds national to me. Hopefully they are realizing that coupons are a form of payment and coupons are a win/win for both the retailer and the consumer. If I like the product and tried it because of a coupon it's a win for the manufacturer as well.

On a side note if you are shopping the 75% off items at Walmart check the prices at the scanner before going to the register. Some of the items are ringing up regular price not 75% off. I noticed it on the baking items ie foil loaf, muffin, cake pans, cookie cutters and the paper muffin cups. All were adjusted without issue. The holiday theme photo frames however originally $5 rang up as .25.

floridaclipper - thank you for mentioning that about the 75% off at WM! Same thing happened to me, but they wouldn't adjust it. They said those items weren't included...duh...I didn't see an "exception" on the big board as you walk in the door! Whatever, I didn't have time to argue, plus I still don't feel good, so I left! Maybe later this week they will see me again.

You make a good point about the win/win.

I noticed a change of attitude about coupons, I think it was about 2 months ago, at my Walmart. Even coupons that won't scan are pushed through by hand with no complaints.

When I first noticed this change was when my cashier had called a manager over because I had a bunch of internet coupons.
I thought here we go again....I'm gonna be told they don't take internet coupons or something....but....

When the Cashier asked the manager if they took them. The manager told her "we take any coupon that has a valid expiration date, a bar code for scanning, and is valid for the product being purchased. You should know this already it is posted on the bulleting board." ....needless to say the cashier took all my coupons and ever since I have not had as much trouble using coupons at my Walmart.

I will say this though. It's a good thing they take coupons because their prices are not so low any more. I was dissapointed this holiday season with the lack of really good sales on food at Walmart. I actually got better deals at my Super One Food Store by stacking coupon deals in their flyers and coupon books.

Glad I read these posts because I took it another way (chalk it up to having many prior run-ins with the WalMart coupon police). I thought by using the word "valid" they were covering their bases for when coupons beep and won't scan, then they could say "sorry our policy says only VALID coupons and this isn't valid." Like I said, too many prior problems with them so I am probably reading too much into it.

I had a bit of an audience in the isle when I presented my query to a team member who then brought a manager over. That may have helped LOL. She didn't have a chance with a mutiny brewing Other shoppers who had not scaned their full carts in the clearance section became very attentive and stood at the ready to ask their own questions should my concern not be addressed in "our" favor. As I understand it the only items not included were the food ie extracts, dates, cake mixes etc. Everything else decorations, gift packs, wrapping items, glade candles, fragrences, serving pieces, plate and bakeware were all included. Hope you feel better soon. Give the sale another shot when your up to it. I'm hoping to see it go to 90% within the next couple weeks.
