My son goes through these consoles like crazy - I hate to hear "Mom, I have the rings of death again!!" I never buy the warranty because it is a pain = so I think I will get one and hide it just so I won't panic when the "rings of death show up" and they will!! I tried to convince him to get the PS3 but it was a no go = he says his hands are too big for the controllers! Not so sure about that, but anyway - going to Walmart now to check this out.

I will also be @ Target for the new Call of Duty? I think thats the one on Tuesday morning - my DS won't stop talking about this game. New carrot for homework!!

The rings of death is covered for up to 3 years from the date of manufacturer on the box! You don't even need your receipt to get it fixed.

Just call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and tell them you got 3 flashing red lights, they will want to know the color on your power supply when you power the box on, if it is green you will send in the box only, if it is yellow you will send in the box and the cords. You will NOT send in your hard drive.

They will send a shipping label to your email, print it off, and get a box from USPS (OR ANYONE), take it to the post office and in 3 weeks you'll get your xbox back fixed of that dreaded red ring of death.

Just look on the back of it, and it will say the date it was born, if it has been within the last 3 years that xbox is still under manufacturer warrantee that covers the RROD and E74 errors regardless of if you bought the extended warranttee or not.

This is a special problem that XBOX is aware of and is trying to fix for everyone for FREE!...as long as it hasn't been opened by anyone...that will void the warrantee.

Thanks for the info - I am not into these games that much - just the Wii which never gets the "Rings of Death"!!

My sister has 2 XBOX 360's for my nephews and each time she sends it in they charge her $100 to fix plus she pays to ship it. She has done this twice with both. I just go get a new one. I wonder why they charged her - they both had the rings of death and they could not be over 3 years old. I will have my son find one of his broken ones and see what happens.

Anyway - going to beg someone to sell me the Modern Warfare early because it is my sons birthday today and this is all he wants. He told me other people have gotten them already so he wants me to try. But he also admits these people work where they have gotten them. - what can I do it's his birthday!!

I would also like to know when this deal is over. My dad is looking to buy one for my brother because he got the rings of death to (as well as my husband, UGH!!)

This "Rings of Death" thing scares me. Should I look for another kind of video game if this one doesn't last very long? I was thinking about getting one for the grandkids to have something to do here at my house but I want to get something that will last a while.
