This was my e-mail to Wal-Mart's corporate office:I had a bad experience at my local Wal-Mart in Nacogdoches, Texas today. I shop there often and use coupons
frequently. Today my purchases were over $225.00, and I was only using
two coupons. The cashier refused to take one of the coupons that was
printed from
Coupons and a manager stated that Wal-Mart does not
take Internet coupons. Has the policy changed in the last couple of
days? The coupon was for a free gallon of milk, which was $1.98. I
don't appreciate being treated rudely after the amount I spent over a
couple of dollars. There is a Brookshire Brothers and two Kroger stores
in town that I can shop at if Wal-Mart is no longer going to accept
these coupons. I am not going to shop anywhere that makes me feel like
a criminal. Coupons.com is a legitimate site! I am a member of the
couponmom.com forum and I will post about this experience. They have
11,858 members. Any reply you send will be posted there as well.
This is the reply that I received (quickly, I might add!) Maybe it was knowing how many people would see it here.
Thank you for your message.
Dear Faith,
Wal-Mart Stores can accept coupons that are available on the internet for customers to print from their home computers. The following are guidelines for the stores for accepting internet coupons:
- The coupon should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon". There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer, to ensure the coupon can be processed for payment.
- The coupon should have a scan-able bar code.
- The coupon should have an expiration date.
- The coupon cannot be a photocopy.
- The limit is one coupon per item, per Customer.
- A Salaried Manager can refuse to accept a coupon if it does not meet any or all of these guidelines.
Sincerely,
Walmart Customer Care
I have printed the policy from their website as well as this e-mail to keep in my coupon binder.
