The option that I choose to do is to place the ad in the cashiers hand prior to ringing up the ad (with circled item obvious). This prevents ads being thrown away (which I have seen happen to other customers).

In my case I know my prices already, so yes, I do circle the ads before leaving the house. I would most definitely encourage people to circle that date.

This is precisely why I always have a calculator on me....the cashiers will thank you for having it.

Thanks so much for this. We have a Wal-Mart Neigborhood Market two blocks down the street, which is where I do most of my shopping. After hearing the horror stories of other folks who have tried couponing there I have been reluctant to try the price matching, but thanks to your tips I plan on giving it a whirl this evening. Thanks for helping me figure out how to organize myself before I enter into battle!

Very good tips. I wish they were more beneficial for me. I do a LOT of BOGO at grocery stores, and have ECB's and RR's to use at drugstores. My Wal-Mart refuses to take IP's, and isn't any closer to me than Food Lion, Publix, CVS and Wags. I guess if I need to shop away from home it might be helpful, so I'll try to keep all that in mind.

I actually think I should write to Wal-Mart and tell them about my store and the IP thing. If I can get something in writing to take in with me, they'd have to accept it.
