Default Is your Target limiting Manufacturer's coupons?

I went to a Macon, GA Target today and the cashier stated they have a new policy. I can only use 3 manufacturers coupons. I said really, at one point she stated 3 like coupons but in the end she would only take 3 coupons period. I was buying makeup on clearance and they were not all the same brand. I had her removed two items. I only had 5 coupons total to begin with. I am going to call the store manager tomorrow to clarify. This is quite silly of them. If I was there to buy groceries and I could only use 3 coupons I probably would have walked out without buying anything.

Thanks for listening to my frustration.

Stupidness. You cashier is a big-fat-liar. Call the manager...and NEXT time, so to her ever so sweetly, "well, I guess you'll just have to do two transactions." I love the back peddling that happens when you say that.

That's so rediculous!!! I'd call the store Mgr right away and ask to see a copy of this 'new' coupon policy. Do seperate transactions next time a cashier makes up a new rule.

Why do cashiers do this?? Do they get a bonus on total sales rang or something? What would be there motivation to agrivate customers like this? I just don't get it!! It isn't that hard to ring coupons through, there has to be a motivation factor for them, maybe the one who takes in the least amount of coupons wins a prize? Or is it just a power trip? Still not getting why!!

Wow that does sound like she just didn't want to ring them up.

However, when I went to Target yesterday I had several coupons. Including 4 (tide), 4 (fiber One bars), 6 (degree), and a few others that were 1-2 of same coupon. At any rate the cashier said hold on a minute before I ring this up I need to get a manager. I was like hmmmm this will not be good. I waited for manager to come over and she looked at my items and my coupons. She said I am sorry we have a new store policy on coupons. We are running out of items due to people having multiple coupons. So we will only be accepting 4 of the same/like coupon. So the tide and bars and others are fine. However you may not use 6 of the degree. I aksed her if I could have a copy of this policy as the policy online that I had doesn't say there is any limit of like coupons. She said that each store is allowed to make it's own rules from the "national" policy and this is their store rule. So I put two of the degree back and purchased all the other items and used my coupons for other items.

As I was leaving the manager came over and handed me a piece of paper. It was a portion of their staff notes for the week. She had blacked out most of the notes, but the part that was left open said effective Sunday this store will only be accepting 4 like coupons. You can use 4 store and 4 manufacter's for same item, but not more than 4 of same coupon. It also reminded cashiers that all printed coupons are not "target" coupons and can not be used combined. She said that this was all she had as far as a coupon policy.

SO they will not allow a computer-printed mfr. coupon to be combined with a Target printed store coupon?

I think what they were trying to say is: do not assume that an IP is automatically a Target web print. In other words: I think they are asking their employees to check whether it says "Target" or "mfr" on the IP so that they don't end up accepting a mfr IP and a regular mfr for one item. Just my interpretation, of course. : )

My local Target started limiting to 5 like coupons a couple months ago. (4 would actually make more sense because of the limit on P&G anyway- but I don't think they realize this) They have a new manager that made the rule. She said that each store could make their own rules on top of the corporate rules. It happened around the same time they stopped taking a BOGO with a cents off q. She explained that they get graded by how much is on the shelf. Sounded a little weird to me, seems like you would be graded on what you sell rather than what you can keep... but that was what she said. (I can just imagine when the inspector comes to grade them, the manager can say..."Corporate is going to be so excited and proud of us.... we haven't sold anything all week and our shelves are totally full!")

Sounds to me that the cashier misunderstood the policy and was trying to cover her butt. So many of them are undertrained and misunderstand coupons and the coupon lingo that it is no wonder they hate them. She doesnt want to get in trouble so though her store may be limiting it to 3 LIKE coupons.. she interpretted it to be 3 TOTAL. /sigh
