Target and John Frieda this week-Did anyone else have this happen to them?

There was a deal this week that when you bought 3 of the John Frieda items that were on sale you received a 5.00 gift card back.I bought 3 of the shampoos which were 5.99 each.The lady scanned my 3 items and then it says to put 5.00 on a gift card for me.The total before the scan of the card was 19.05,when she scanned a gift card to give me the total went down to 18.75.I asked her why ,she had no clue.She scanned the gift card and then scanned my 3 couopns.The first and second coupon scanned 5.00 each and then the third only took off 2.97.Which left the toal to be 5.00 even.I wanted to know why this rang up this way.She brought over another lady and I was told that this was a promotional item and she wasn't even suppose to take coupons for this item .I was like "What"? So I paid the 5.00 for the first 3 and I had 3 more orders whcih I knew would all now be free since I have a 5.00 gift card from each purchase to use on the following purchase.
Now here is my question.If the price starts off with a total of 19.05.You take off all 3 of the 5.00 coupons which would add up to 15.00, you would have a total of 4.05.Then when you get your 5.00 gift card the next order would be the same and you should end up with an extra .95 on each gift card.So in 4 orders I actually paid and extra .95 (3.80) .
I hope this is clear enough for everyone.I was just wondering if this happened to anyone else .

That is wierd. Were you using the correct coupon for the shampoo? I know that there is a $5 off John Freida Coupon, but that only applies to the Styler products I thought.
There is a $2 JF Coupon for the shampoo/conditioner. The only thing I can think of is that the total went down because tax was reconfigured? Did she also scan your gift card and let you use for same transaction? I think the tax has something to do with it!?!
Let us know if you figure it out! Haven't picked up JF at Target because they had a good deal at Rite aid making it free after rebate...Just waiting for store to get styler in stock!! Thank Goodness for rainchecks!

I had the same issue at Target today. I bought:

3 John Frieda stylers $5.99 each
I used a $3/2 Target coupon and 3 $5 manu coupons.

The last $5 coupon would not come off. So the cashier had me go to customer service and they gave me $5 cash for that coupon.

Without that coupon my total was $5.70, for which I used a previous $5 giftcard and paid $0.70 cash. Then I got back $5 at customer service for the coupon. I still ended with a $5 giftcard. So my net profit was $4.30 since I got cash back, I only paid $0.70 OOP, and both started and ended with a $5 giftcard.

Target is notorious for having a gift card glitch. Google it for more information. When you're purchasing items in a gift card promotion and using manufacturer coupons, the registers at some Target locations will 'freeze' and go bonkers so as not to allow the subtotal to go below a certain amount. It's been going on for months and months. I would post a site for more information, but it's a competing site.

I can't remember what was on the coupon.I was just so happy to finally see something on the shelf so I grabbed all 12 since I had 12 coupons.

Just curious, does Target's coupon policy actually state they don't take coupons on promotional items? Or was that the cashier's statement?

I had the same problem too, but didn't say a word. As I was looking at my receipt, my JF products package total 17.95 adding the $5. GC to it was 21.95, with 2
mfr. q of $5 off with the in-store q for 3/2, thought I was going to get it for free or little to pay, but instead I ended up paying more than I thought. I couldn't understand but paid for it.
