Thumbs down Problem cashier at Target today..

I went to Target and bought Febreeze fabric refresher, I had a coupon for buy the fabric refresher get the Febreeze Air Effects Free, I also had $1/1 for the Air Effects, she refused to scan it, she said "you cannot use a coupon on an item your getting free!" Yes you can, right? I think so, but she sure didn't.

Some places you can, some you can't. I can at meijer, but not at walmart, I don't shop at target, so I don't know their policy. Better luck next time!

Depends on the fine print wording of the coupon. It will also depend how many items the coupon attaches to in the system. Most bogo coupons attach to both items so it wouldn't scan anyway most of the time.
I have a new address so if we trade often PM me so I can update you

The cashier in this situation is correct, lovetosavewithcoupons. The BOGO coupon that you used, buy one fabric refresher, get one air effects free, is being used for the air effects, not the fabric refresher. You attempted to also use a $1 coupon on the air effects, which is misuse, regardless of how the BOGO is coded. In this situation, you tried to apply two coupons to the same item. Every coupon includes the verbiage 'one coupon per purchase' for this very reason.

If you had a $1 coupon for the fabric refresher rather than the air effects, then that coupon could be used in conjunction with a BOGO coupon. That, however, is contingent upon how the coupon is coded. I won't get into specifics about that here, as it is not allowed on this site. I hope that clears things up.

Disclaimer: I am assuming that the coupons in question are both MQs. If this is a stacking query and the $1 air effects coupon is in fact a Target store coupon rather than a manufacturer's, then you are 100% correct, lovetosavewithcoupons. You can use one TQ and one MQ for each item at Target per the store's coupon policy.

I actually had a coupon for the fabric refresher, I could have used, I'm still learning. Thanks for the information.

lovetosave-as you get more Q-savy, you'll come to understand this is one of those YMMV situations.
Some cashiers are very Q-unfriendly and try to trip you up every time. And then you'll run across someone like Faye, at our local Target. She is friendly and helpful-I have ALWAYS been able to use both Q's on a deal like you wrote about above. You can also do both Q's at stores like Publix and CVS in same scenario.
Faye is also gracious to give overage on Q's-such as $1. off .97 cent Reach floss, stacking 2 Q's on a $1.50 item when total Q value would be $2. (Publix also very good about this as well)
