Well that's the basic idea. But yea, it's not accurate. That's a shame you were led to believe that and we see that on here with new people constantly. I think that's why a lot of people give it up because they dont realize it isnt as simple as that. But oh once you figure out what to look out for it's game on and it's sooo much fun!

In my area/region -well I do know that we have someone here where I live that does Dillons... .but that was just done last year in 2011. Back in 2010 before I even formally joined the forum there wasn't anything for Dillons at all on the deals list. I just follow the Kroger forums really, and that gives me a two day heads up of what to expect at Dillons. Krogers switch ads two days before Dillons.... it's almost like cheating!! lol And it's not precise by any means at all, but I know the sales and catalinas are going to be close.

You probably heard this too maybe that once the coupon is out and available to use usually the sales on that item follow pretty quickly. So if anything, even if you dont have a good ad to go off of, maybe compare your coupons to what's in the store you frequent. Like that Schick Hydro Silk coupon, the day it came out Target had a good deal on it (same sunday).

What's the name of your markets you shop at?

I just saw in the very first post what stores you have...if it hasn't been mentioned also check fb for some blogs as well...that place is full of all sorts of blogs and a lot of them! I would just randomly start typing in something. I sure hope you find something local to help you get started.

    Thank you for your suggestions!
I do use facebook there is a very active Shaws page and then some blogs that often post on page
I do appreciate this forum I can not believe the knowledge the members have and how they are so happy tho share their expertise. That is one makes this site a valuable resource.
The reason I started this thread is because of the lack of accuracy for a "nationwide site" in reading replies from this thread and other similar threads I did not see anyone saying the site is accurate in their area just an agreement that it is not accurate and the reasons why. What I was hoping for is a brainstorming session to improve the accuracy. At least one idea did come up and I do feel with the knowledge in this forum others will reply.
In reading through this thread and others and a common comments was the lack of accuracy and just accepting it. It made me more curious where and how the data is collected for a "nationwide site" and where is it accurate. Maybe this system is flawed.
I will reiterate I do not expect 100% accuracy but the negligible accuracy that I experience now surely can be improved. Possibly the system for collecting data is flawed and should be reevaluated.
I do use other resources but for some reason my particular area lacks any good blogs. If I had the time, which I don't I may have tried it out myself. The lack of time and the need to save and the boasts I was given through different media is what led me to this site..... Again I appreciate the knowledge and the willingness to help in these forums

Still hoping for answers. How is the data collected? What is the system? Where in the country is data accurate? Is it accurate only in Atlanta area?

Haven't read the whole thread completely so sorry if this repeats. One problem that can't be addressed by any site is that stores within a few miles of each other don't have the same price on the same items. I am within driving distance of 3 Walmarts and they all have different prices; the same with Foodlion and other stores. So even if a regional price is listed it doesn't mean the store close to you will follow the exact price. I have had it explained to me that they adjust their prices according to the local competition. So if there isn't much near one Walmart their prices might be higher on some items. It is also why they won't price match among their own stores. My husband's job involves grocery stores so I am in and out of a lot of different ones and the prices don't hold constant even as much as 2 miles away sometimes. I was shopping in a store he was working in a few weeks ago and he got a call and had to go to a store a few miles away. So, I just decided to buy the items I was planning to buy at the other store. It didn't work out, they were higher on the same items. The other store had adjusted the price down because of a store near them. So it is impossible to make the prices fit every store even in one town let alone the entire region. This might explain at least some of your different price findings.

I will try and answer this question one more time. Matchups are done at one national store only. If you look at the top of the Deals List you will find something like this:

    CVS/Pharmacy Best Deals
The item prices and coupons are from the Atlanta, Georgia market, however, there will be similar deals in other cities with CVS stores. This list is intended to be a guide, not a guarantee.

The matchups will be 100% accurate at one national store only. In this case, one store in Atlanta, GA only. CVS sale prices tend to be the same throughout a region, so all Atlanta CVS stores will probably have the same sale prices. NON sale prices vary greatly from store to store, so keep this in mind when if looking at non sale matchups.

Walmart store matchups are 100% accurate at one store only in the Atlanta, GA area. The matchup list for Walmart will not be 100% accurate at all stores even within the Atlanta, GA area. Walmart does not have true sales; prices vary greatly from store to store on EVERY ITEM even within the same area.

Regional grocery store chain matchups are usually done at one store in the state. Here in Ohio at Kroger, this is done at a Columbus area store. Matchups are 100% accurate at one store only. Kroger sales vary from region to region, so sale prices may only be accurate in the Columbus, OH area. Cincinnati and Toledo are different markets. Items on sale are usually the same, but sale prices may be different. NON sale prices vary from store to store even within the same region.

I am sorry you are having a difficult time. I hope this helps.

Thank you. It's not that I didn't understand, what I was looking for is where is it accurate. Which you did answer Atlanta area.
