With you Q, it's now 3 boxes for $5.00, that's about $1.67 per box or over half off the regular retail price.
What you may have been able to do is if the sale was 3/$6.00, did you have to buy 3 boxes to get the sale price? Of could you have purchased two boxes ($2.00 each)?
If you could have purchased 2 boxes for $4.00, then used your $1.00 coupon
this would have reduced your cost to 2 boxes for $3.00 or $1.50 each.
I thought it was a great deal. When you purchase 3 boxes, you get a coupon for a free gallon of milk. Purchase 5 boxes and you get a coupon for 2 free gallons of milk. Purchase 7 and you get a coupon for 3 free gallons of milk. Once you subtract the $2 (best $ I've found) for each of the 3 gallons, it makes it 7 boxes of cereal for about $1.14 each. I bought 21 boxes and ended up with 9 free gallons. By the way, make sure you buy them 7 at a time and not all 14, 21 at the same time. It is 3 gallons for 7 OR MORE, so you'd only get 3 gallons. I can't beat that...at least not yet (just started)!
