I'm not sure how old your daughter is, but this is an idea my sister did with her kids. She set up a payment schedule, meaning she'd pay $x.xx for shoes, $x.xx for jeans, $x.xx for shirts, sweatshirts, etc. If the item my niece wanted cost more than my sister would pay, my niece came up with the rest. This also teaches the kids the value of their own dollars and they're not so interested in having the big $ name brand stuff. And, if they are, they're paying for it not you.
My own children wore a lot from garage sales and thrift stores. At first, my daughter was embarrassed about it. I told her that if she didn't tell anybody where she got it, I wouldn't eitherShe didn't, and I didn't either.

She didn't, and I didn't either.
