Default What are the Wholesale Club Bargains you like?

I know most of us shop with sales and coupons at grocery stores and drugstores and get freebies and rock bottom prices that way. And we know that NO store has the lowest prices on everything all the time.

Having said that, if you shop at a wholesale club, what are the good deals there? Costco, Sam's or BJ's?

We'd love to hear from you, please post your feedback here!

    Thanks,
    Stephanie

    Default BOGO at BJ's

Yesterday I picked up Mr. Clean Magic Erasers with the BOGO coupon in last Sundays (5/3) insert. So I got 20 Magic Erasers for 9.99. I could have done better because I had 2 manuf. Q's for the Magic Eraser that I could have stacked. I also used a BOGO BJ's coupon for the 3-pack of Lysol Wipes. I stacked 6/$1 manuf. Lysol wipes Q's (from the np inserts, can't remember which one) with the BOGO BJ's coupon (from the monthly BJ's coupon book) for a great deal! And lastly, I stacked 2/$1.50 IP coupons with the $2/2 BJ's Hidden Valley Ranch Q's and paid next to nothing for 2 36 oz. bottles of Ranch dressing!

I find the following positives in Costco. This is the only wholesale club I go.

1)Best prices I have found in milk and prescription medicines.
2)Competetive prices in bread, oil, flour, rice, condiments, frozen precooked food.
3)Very good quality of vegetables, fruits etc.
4)An excellent return policy. That works very good especially for electronics etc.

On weekends they give free samples of food which they sell at stores. An excellent incentive to get the whole family and kids out.The kids dont take long to leave for Costco because they dont want to miss out on those freebies and they are tasty.

Overall if you go item to item on many items you will save a bundle if you shop with coupons. But I still use costco for milk, bread, veg, fruit, laundry goods and many a times just to keep a stock of goods till the time I can get cheaper stuff somewhere else.

...has great prices on wine! $16 at Sam's for Santa Margharrita Pinot Grigio compared to $25+ everywhere else. We also get our contacts/glasses there for CHEAP!

Costco ( Usually has it's own coupons, but does not take manufacturers)

Daisy Sour Cream 3 pounds for $3.49 (We you pay over $1 for the small container in stores regardless if you have a coupon or not.)

Country Crock Spread 5 pounds (I don't recall the price, but again still a lot cheaper.)

Smucker's Jelly/Jam 2-32 ounces jars for $7.29 ( The coupons I always get are maybe .50 off of 2......and in the land of no doubles not a good deal.)
I usually buy Jiff Peanut Butter for a similar deal.

Many times we get soda or juice, also canned green beans, black olives, and canned mushrooms. Hubby just had to have the Sam Adams variety pack last night.....got 24 bottles for $25.

Avocados, Granny Smith apples, and a few other fresh fruits and veggies.

We tend to only go there once a month or less. Oh and that is where we buy the majority of our gas. Still deciding on using the optical lab. This is where we went when we first moved here to help restock some things.

It just depends on when I go and what other deals are available now. Hubby asked last night if he I wanted grapes, but I knew Publix had a better deal on them.

Flour - I bake my own bread and can get 25lbs for the price of 15 at the regular stores.

Meds - I pay 1/2 or less for these. Example, I pay $8 for one of them at Costco, the best price I've found in a drug store is $54 and the grocery store pharmacy is $76.

Bulk cheese - I got this huge block of cream cheese at smart & final a few weeks ago, more than enough for a couple cheesecakes and less than $10.

Mainly, I keep my costco membership for the meds - it's about $400 a month in savings right there.

    Default Sam's Club

    Cooking Oil
    Dryer Sheets
    Trash Bags
    Ziploc Bags
    Acetaminiphen
    Naproxen Sodium
    Ibuprofen
    Shredded cheese

I just went to Sam's yesterday for the first time this year. In my area, I haven't been able to find cheaper sales/coupon prices for any of the above items. Still, I'm not sure I would continue paying for the membership except that we get our gas there too.

Forgot to say we used Sam's Optical for my DDs glasses/eye exam. Reasonable prices, maybe not cheaper than other places, but very convenient to get glasses rebent/adjusted/tightened (FREE) as she is rather hard on them (as 11y.o.'s tend to be.)
