I really like Aldi.Never experienced one until i moved down south.
I think the pay a quarter for a cart is a good idea.(No carts left in the parking lot) They have clean stores and cheap items. I just wish they would except Q's. I wish i could find some Aldi branded Q's though to use.

We like their tortilla chips better than any other brand!
Otherwise, I mostly buy eggs, milk, cheese and other dairy products, oil, sugar... things like that. Just staples. The cheese prices are worth a special trip, in our area! The customer service at our local ALDI is AWESOME. We have intelligent, capable and friendly women working there. I keep meaning to write a letter to headquarters. |

One more post about Aldi. They do have a few items dependably cheaper (like saltines) but in general, I do better with Q's. The other inconveniences are annoying and the service stinks, especially taking no credit cards! Also I find the produce not that nice but you can't beat their price on bananas. I've also watched them restocking frozen/refrigerated items and they leave them sitting out quite a long time. They do have a "double your money back guarantee" but I find the quality on most items is just OK - so not really bad enough to take advantage of the guarantee. If the store were more convenient for me to get to, I'd probably go a little more often and find exercizing the guarantee easier. Also, in our area the advertised "special buys" are not available until later in the week, so I tend to forget about them. Are you listening, Aldi?

I had a possibly dangerous problem with our local Aldi's and am now very worried about food safety there. I purchased refrigerated tortias at Aldi's and found mold growing between them when I opened the package. They were well in date. I could return them for a refund but I am more worried about safe food handling. I contacted the health department and they found no vialations but I will pay a little more for peace of mind. Aldi's is popular so I assume the problem is a local one.

This happens a lot to tortillas and believe it is due to their packaging. I have bought tortillas from many grocery stores and have found mold on packages that has a well date on them.

Once again I was in Aldi this week and they were restocking frozen food. The cart with the frozen food was out in the aisle when I arrived, and was still sitting there when I left, about 30 minutes. I, too am concerned about their food handling. CM, if you're thinking about covering Aldi, I'd skip it - they don't take coupons and their quality in general is marginal.

I'm with you on the frozen foods being left out. We used to get their frozen juice concentrates but, one time, I picked up a can out of the freezer and it was completely thawed, liquid.
