Default Using freebies and cheapies for the soldier and homeless

First I started out trying to save myself money, then after a couponing class with my beautiful sister in HotLanta, I figured out how to get free trial sizes for my homeless friends' hygiene kits. (I'm the coordinator of our churches' DC Homeless Mission). Now my mom and I have started sending care packages to the military again and the living room is full of stuff I've gotten for next to nothing ! Now I need a coupon for postage!

If you have hygiene items you won't use any time soon, please log on to AnySoldier.com and send them to a soldier !

Love,

Bonnie

I use my savings to pay down our mortgage. My goal is to have the house paid off by the time we are 50.

I just donated (3) Tide (40 loads powder), (5) Dawn liquid handsoap, (1) Domino Sugar (from Walgreens) and other things to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home. The feeling is great!

Hello

I like to accumulate emergency fund so that it can be used in future for unexpected expenses because future is uncertain.

Default have you ever seen a uhaul behind a hearse

if anyone out there is like me... Divorced and got debt instead of anything else. I take it day by day, had the house, the cars, but as my mom told me have you ever seen a uhaul behind a hearse ? You can't take it with you.
I save it in another account to pay off the bills that I owe, this includes medical, but I definately will not starve because of you and the local shelters are being helped. You are an inspiration, what goes around come around and I believe in pay it forward, someday when I need help I know the people I can help now will help me 10 fold. Everyone should have faith in a higher power it works. Even though it gets really hard sometimes.

Default What to do with the savings

It is so funny I came across this thread. My DH was saying I should consider putting away my saving no matter how small. I didn't think about the mortgage idea..excellent.

I have a mason jar that I have been throwing the .03 back for bring my own bag to the stores. Since July I have almost filled that quart jar with change just from the bag refund. My son made the comment the other day about the jar being almost full, he ask me how many trips it was in the jar? I pleaded the 5Th amendment on that question. I told him it was the Doctors fault, he had insisted I walk more!!!!! LOL

our savings are fairly insignificant, as we don't shop often. but we have extra money pretty regularly, so i'm using it to pay down our credit card debt (from our irresponsible spending days) faster than we were before. so far we have gone from about $24,000 combined to less than $11,000. yes, i know, still incredibly high, but the burden of it has lifted significantly from my shoulders, as i manage our finances now (instead of just mismanaging them before!)
