Default Rite aid is this to good to be true an or illegal?

    Hi,
First I am a newbie. I have tried deals twice at rite aid and did ok I think.
My friend was telling someone about my new hobby to save money. the Gal told her she was a coupon-er and only shopped at rite aid as the one here will take up-to 4 MF coupons on any one item as long as you don't get to a negative balance.
Now being broke really broke is why I need to coupon this would really help me however is it legal? If I try this I could be very embarrassed if she is lying ( I have no reason to think she is lying). The gal told my friend she would take her and show her this weekend by shopping there with her.
I plan on shopping today. Do I try this? I smell a fish what do you think?
    Thank you!

I think that would qualify as coupon fraud.

Thanks I do not want to do anything illegal. I don't get why the store would do this. However both cashiers I have had are so different in the way they handled my coupons maybe they have a lack of training. Should I tell the manager? Or stay out of it?

I am hoping the cashier meant to say, Rite Aid limits 4 like coupons per customer. Here is the line from their coupon policy: Rite Aid may accept up to 4 identical coupons for the same number of qualifying items as long as there is sufficient stock to satisfy other customers within the store manager’s sole discretion.

I other words, you can use 4 of the same coupon to buy 4 items, not 4 coupons on 1 item. Someone is confused. I hope it is not the cashier.

Bear- I am afraid it was (is) the cashier. I read the rules for the store and questioned this also but, they are apparently letting people use upto 4 q's on 1 product!

My first thought was what Bear said about the limit of 4. I can't even imagine how they could get extra ones to pass the computer. If you have an extra coupon in by accident because you switch a product out it will beep. If she doesn't have it mixed up, then it is fraud. And it would have to be on the part of the customer and the cashier both. As for whether to say anything, if I was talking to a manager I might would just mention that I was told that a cashier was doing it but hadn't seen it myself. Would hate to lose someone their job by naming them if there is a chance your friend is wrong. If it is happening they should be able to track it down if they know to look for it.

I was afraid of that. This is coupon fraud. I imagine she misunderstood the limit of 4 coupons policy. If she does not figure it out before someone else does she may be out of a job.

It has been years since I worked retail, but wouldn't they catch this when balancing their drawer at night? It is hard to believe that this would continue long before someone would notice. But then again it is hard o believe anyone could interprete the policy that way.
