I don't shop at Rite Aid for all of these reasons. They never have what is on sale and, if you ask for a raincheck they won't give them to you.
I'm almost at the same place with Walgreens - they put all their sales tags up on Saturday for their Sunday sales but the prices don't go into affect until then - it confuses me but maybe I'm the only one?
I only go to Walgreens when I know I'm buying one or two things otherwise, I just don't bother.

I have found that too about Rite Aid. They don't carry a whole lot of stock. Two of the Rite Aids in our city used to be Brooks Pharmacy. What a great store that was. They had everything you needed and their Holiday decorations were awesome and reasonably priced. Then Rite Aid bought out Brooks. What a sad day that was. They don't carry as much stock as Brooks did. I've chatted with a couple cashiers (the rare times I go there) and they wish it was still Brooks. One was an assistant manager when it was Brooks but Rite Aid demoted her to cashier when they took over saying the store didn't need an assistant manager. I felt bad for her.

Same here with the Rite Aid's in my area. One closed down recently...the sales are great but the items are impossible to find or ring up wrong. I don't bother any more.

Slack Rite-aid
My rite-aid doesn't put the sale tags on the shelves until late, I have the flyer so I know Its on sale but the problem is when the flyer says selections my vary I don't know which of the specific products are on sale some have exclusions eg fat free of the same brand usually not on sale. It's a complete guessing game. And with that rebate thing you can only request one check per month I did not know that and lost out on $7 called Rite-aid basically I am SOL. Yuck!

Our Rite Aid doesn't even put the sales tags on the day of the sale, so like you, it's a guessing game for me too. That is part of the reason why I tend to shy away from Rite Aid unless they are having a killer deal.

I have never shopped at Rite-Aid before today. I just found Coupon Mom yesterday, and transferred 3 prescriptions to Rite-Aid last night (they WERE at CVS, so I couldn't just transfer them there).
I spent over an hour shopping there and I was SO. DARN. FRUSTRATED!
I got some good clearance stuff, and I did get $90 in free GC, but seriously! They wasted so much of my time! Also, I have a ruptured tendon in my ankle that is healing and I was there with a cranky toddler, so it was sooooo much worse, and it was so unnecessary, because all they needed to do was answer my question correctly. I asked SO specifically!
I asked, "Do you take competitors coupons?"
Clerk A: "I'm pretty sure, yeah."
Obviously, I know this is not a safe answer, so I go to a managerial-type, and ask again.
Managerial type: "Yes"
HK1: I mean NOT a manufacturer's coupon, but a store coupon.
Managerial type: "Yes, that's ok."
HK1: OK, not to be a pain, but I want to make sure before I waste everyone's time later. Would THIS Target coupon for Huggies be ok? <shows coupon to managerial-type>
Managerial type: "Yes, even if it didn't have a barcode, we would just override it and give you the dollar amount off your order. Your order just has to come to more than the coupon. We can't give you cash back."
HK1: Fair enough. Thanks so much.
Wanna GUESS what happened when I got to the register, after I did an hours' worth of shopping, and was exhausted, had a toddler-on-the-edge, and a screaming ankle? Oh yes! They refused to take the coupons. The first clerk I asked was the one that refused! The store manager (not the managerial-type I talked to) was called, and she refused to take them. Apparently the one I talked to was gone for the day, and the mgr left just shrugged at me. On top of that, she refused to take the actual manufacturer's coupons I had that had printed out at the grocery store! She went on and on about how they could not take "store coupons". I told her at least 3 times that it was not a "store coupon" if it said "manufacturer's coupon" on top, and finally said that that is why they HAD that bar on top to SAY different things, but she finally just walked away from me. Nice. I'm SO glad that she thought it was worth chasing away a brand-new customer, for life, AND making sure I told others of my terrible experience, just to save her company 1.00. ONE DOLLAR!!!
So sorry to write such a novel on my first post, but I REALLY needed to vent. Thanks so much for listening (or at least skimming and moving on, lol).

look behind the cashier
i had experienced the "clearout" problem as well, and upon investigation found that ALL Free after rebate items were taken off the shelves and placed in behind the registers hidden from view. When I asked for them they sold them to me, but you needed to know they were there(an associate told me)
rite aid also does not accept computer printout coupons---
hence I shop there sparingly--i use 2-3 stores, One was mentioned above I HARDLY go to anymore since that experience, The other is out of state ( I commute there to work) and is slightly better. The 3rd one seems to be understocked all the time.
i still prefer riteaid over walgreens cause they havean easy rebate process, I hate dealing w/ mail

Never apologize for having to write a novel. Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. I believe the forum is here for us to share in the experience so we can help eachother through the process of couponing - whether good or bad.... The manager is not correct in the way she handled you as a customer. She has poor customer service skills and it needs to be reported. Often times we feel like it's too time consuming to log on the net to file a complaint but your time was already wasted by the store. Why not spend a few minutes venting this out to the Corporate Office itself and allow them to handle this matter? You may not ever return to the store but at least the next person who encounters this manager may have a better experience due to your complaint and corporate getting involved... Pay it Forward...
