Default Credit cards and rewards programs

I have a chase CC we just switched to the Freedom rewards account that is totally free no yearly dues.
Last night I learned that until the end of March you can get 3% back on certain things that you purchase like utilities or day care etc.
It doesn't take much to earn points it starts at 1500 for GC etc and since it is paid off every month not a big deal for us. I figure if we have to have a credit card I want one that rewards us for using it.
This sure beats the discover card that my DH used to use all the time. So this will be a great way for us to earn free GC for Birthdays or Christmas or just cash it in to pay for a tank of gas. I am always surprised at different ways that we can save.

I actually have all my utility bills drafted to my cc. Since you have to pay them anyway why not get rewards for them? I py my cc off every month so they basically pay me for using their card.

I just cashed in 25,000 points from my Bank of America credit card and got my $250 check this week. I have never paid any credit card fees or interest in my life.

    Default Sears Points

Just wanted to share another way coupons and card points can be used to help. My friend's husband is going to be having surgery this week in a city 4 hours away so I won't be able to be there to support her. They have been fighting his cancer for over 3 years and the bills have been racking up. As soon as I found out about the surgery I began to put together a goodie box for her to put in her trunk so she won't have to hit the vending machines so much. I put in it various snack foods, fiber bars, candy, her favorite flavored water, a gallon ziplock bag with a mini deoderant, wisp toothbrushes, q-tips, floss etc. A box of ziplock baggies to divide the larger bags into "toss in her tote" size, a gallon ziplock with puzzle books, pens and a small notebook in case she needs to write things down. I wanted to be able to do something more and I remembered I had points on my Sear's card. I was able to get a $50 gas card for her with my points. I believe it took about 3 weeks for the card to come so if you need it for a vacation or something special make sure you order in advance.
