Default Waiting for clothing/shoes to go on clearance

While I did not seriously coupon until a year ago, I did buy my family's clothes/shoes on clearance. Places like Macy's and Dillard's clearance out their summer/winter merchandise 75+% off at the end of each season. Most of the time I leave the stuff in their clear garment bags for the next season. There are plenty of well made name brands to choose from at the end of the season. Feb for winter and Sep for summer have been the best months for clothing clearances for me.

I don't see very many retail posts, but I thought it would be good to share when someone sees a 75+% off rack. I know different parts of the country will clearance at different times.

Those end of season clearance sales can be great. I buy for the next season as well. My favorite finds this year so far were a $75 Michael Kors top for $8 and a leather jacket for $30 at Wilsons. I've already started browsing in anticiption of the upcomming sales.

We buy most of our Lands End clothes on clearance. Some Sears stores sell Lands End, and we wait til they go at least 80% off. My sister in NJ spends about $200 a year for $1000 worth of clothes for my whole family off season. I know she called me last week with some good finds. Same with LL Bean, esp shoes there.
I also shop The Childrens Place for kid's clothes, I wait til I can get shirts for about $2, pants for $4, and stock up. Target can have good clearance too if you hit it on the right day, in the summer I bought 16 pairs of kid's jeans for $2 each. I also find odds and ends at Meijer, esp socks. I bought 12 6pks of socks for $1.25 each in August to donate.
I'll try to post when I find these great sales more often, I think I usually already do.

I am looking for Lands End coats on clearance. Their site has Little Girls parkas for $29.99, really cute ones, but I need Big Girls sizes. I'll just keep looking.

Another good time to shop, for shoes at least, is at the beginning of the season. Right when the new product comes in, anything left over from prior season will be reduced DRASTICALLY. I managed a shoe store, worked there about 9 years... Pricing typically happens on Thursday, and another little trick is if there are only 3 pairs of a shoe left, usually you can get a clearanced price if they are only on sale!

You can't beat $5 Nike Shoes! Though, you are then competing with employees to get them LOL
