Victoria's Secret rewards card are back!! Did anyone have any luck with these at Christmastime?

I picked up a free pair of underwear from VS. They want you to sign up for the credit card, and then Q come in the mail. You don't need to buy anything extra to get it. So far my VS credit card has been inactive (0balance) since I opened it.
No offense, but opening up a credit card that you don't plan on using to get free underwear is not worth it. That can really hurt your credit score if you do that often enough.
Not to mention that retail credit cards are often have exceedingly high interest rates (19%-29% +).
If you EVER use that card, they'll get the cost of the free underwear back VERY fast.
VS isn't even good quality.
On another note, I use the VS reward cards like this: If I need makeup or they have undies on sale for $10, I'll purchase those. Then I know I'm getting at least $10 back. Then I go buy some more makeup or undies. The fact that I have a chance of winning more is just a bonus.
So if I don't need undies or makeup, I skip the deal until next time.
I like to be smart about deals and spread the word, because the smarter consumers are, the better the deals have to become.

I agree that you shouldn't sign up for an VS Angel credit card simply to get the coupon booklet, but if you do regularly shop Victoria's Secret, then it is well worth it. I have had one for over 5 years, never carry a balance over, so no interest. I get free panty, free lip gloss, $ off bra purchase coupons every couple of weeks. Also, for every $250 you spend, you get $10 rewards cards. I also disagree about the quality. If you take care of the bras and wash them as the care tags say to, they last a long time.
I've had a VS Angel card for several years and charge very little on it during the year, maybe $5-$10 and it's always paid off. I love the perks and coupons. Tons of free panties, lip glosses and $10 Birthday GC's.
Don't take it from me, folks.
Head on over to suzeorman.com or any other financial advice column of your choosing.
NEVER is it a good idea to open up credit accounts if you are not going to use them.
The very act of opening up a credit account is a bad for your FICO score.
Overall, credit to debt ratio may be in your favour if you only charge $5/year.
HOWEVER, think about WHY you opened up this useless credit card?
To get a coupon booklet or a few freebies. We`re talking about lipgloss and panties that cost 2 bucks to make in Indonesia, not French Lingerie, (which lasts a long time if you care for it too. Plus, IMHO, European lingerie simply looks better.)
Not to mention the temptation to use that card if an emergency strikes, or a deal that`s too good to pass up that you couldn`t otherwise afford.
You may have a lot of discipline, I do not deny that. Just don't imply that there are no negative financial consequences to opening up a retail store credit card. WHO CARES what freebies are involved.
An editorial comment: It's just that much more silly to me when the freebies aren't all that great.
And don't feel too proud about your freebies from VS especially. I got free lipgloss, panties, 10$ reward and body wash in 3 months from Victoria's secret by simply checking out this forum.
