I live in Columbia MO - Didn't know this - but you might check your local Michaels. My local Michael's will accept Hobby Lobby's coupons. The clerk there let me ring up 2 seperate transactions - one with a M's coupons.. the other with a HL coupon both for 40% off. In addition to that - I got 2 40% off Michael's register coupons just for making a purchase. Wonder if HL takes Michael's coupons?
Hobby Lobby does a good job of running sales and even has a coupon on their site for 40% off. I'd look into it if these two stores are near you. |

I too live in Columbia MO! But I won't shop at Michael's anymore since they've changed their store to one of only 19 "next generation" stores. I was there the other day and looking and looking for some items that were in the sales ad from the Tribune and after speaking with 3 employees there I find out they don't carry those items here anymore. Can you say false advertising? While I was chatting w/ these 3 employees (one was stocking and the other 2 were trying to get me in the right direction) they told me that they had to throw away tons of beads (probably the ones in the ad) and a bunch of kid's craft kits, because they just couldn't move them...nobody would buy them. Can you believe this?!!! I don't think I would've, but the other guy backed up what the other was saying and the stocker didn't say otherwise either. I said couldn't you have donated this stuff to charities? The response was "we just can't advertise stuff as free." I had to leave before I got ugly and I won't ever return. I guess a half an hour on the phone with local charities just wouldn't fit into their schedule.
![]() On a lighter note, I told my crafty sister and she said she may just have to start dumpster diving there.

I really like to shop at Gerbes on Paris Rd. They have the best clearance bins of all 3 Gerbes here in town and also have great sales w/ your shoppers card of course. I really like their website too. I always look forward to Wednesday when the ad has been updated and then I'll go in and make my shopping list and print it from their site. Check out what I posted this week about their free items Free items at Gerbes/Dillons
I also love Walgreens! I hardly go to Walmart anymore and that's just fine with me. |

I work for michaels. The employees are correct in the fact that some product gets destroyed. That only happens when the item falls to a penny in our system. We destroy the item because of two reasons. One is the liability. If the item is donated then anything that goes wrong with the product becomes michaels liability. If somone gets hurt or anything of that nature. The second reason is that we have agreements with our suppliers. When we damage out a product we get partial credit from the distrubutor. In order to get this credit we have to agree not to give the product to anyone and to damage it out. If we donated it we would be in breach of our contracts. So it isn't that they didn't have the time to call. It is that they were not allowed to!. Maybe you should research things before you make ASSUMPTIONS. You know what happens when you ASSUME somthing!
