Question Restaurant.com

Hi everyone I’m new here and i was looking through the home page site(Grocery Coupons, Coupons, Free Samples, Online Coupons, Restaurant Coupons) and I saw the link "Restaurant Coupons" I clicked it and after that I clicked " Save 50% on Restaurant.com Certificates " and they have gift certificates for $10 but u buy it for $3 and to be able to use it you have to spend $20, or depending on the gift certificate. I was just wondering if anyone has tried any of these? idk I’m being a little skeptical about it lol.

...thanks

Tried them and LOVE IT! They work. It's not a scam. Every few weeks or every month Stephanie posts a coupon code for them and sometimes you can get them for less than $1 each!!

I have a friend who doesn't go out to eat unless she is using one of these Gift certificates. She loves them!

We use these at least once a month at area restaurants! Love the site. If you sign up for their email alerts, they will tell you what specials they are running that week. I bought one last week, and with it also got a $15 discount code for dave & thomas popcorn (which I am trying to give away, I will never use it ).

Just make sure you check out the restaurants available in your area before you buy.
We also use them if we are going out of town. DH and I went to SF last week, and bought one for a mex. restaurant over there, really enjoyed the place

make sure also, that you read the "fine print" there are certain rules & restrictions on many, ie. only good on certain days, on a certain dollar purchase, etc.
Definitely not a scam, can get some really good coupons there

We've used it and have been pleased. The restaurant choices for us are limited, but there are a couple we frequent. Most of the ones for us are mom and pops, which are usually diamonds in the rough. THat is to say, you can find some real gems you might not have even realized were there.

For example, our favorite local pizza place is included. We needed to buy a bunch of pizza to help the family and friends on moving day. We bought a $25 certificate for 70% of $10 (so = $3) and it required a minimum purchase of $35. I had a coupon for 2 pizzas for $17.50 (good for up to 6 pizzas.) So, I bought 4 pizzas for the gang for 2 x $17.50 = $35 and $35-$25 certif = $10 + $3 cost of certif. So fed the guys for $13 (plus tax). Cheapest move I can imagine.

Default Great buy

Hubby and I are going away for a few days to celebrate our 8th anniversary. In order to save on eating out, I got 55 dollars worth of certificates for something like 5 bucks! Also, I went to the site through ebates, as I do any time I buy something online, and got cash back!

I haven't been able to find good deals for our area, for about a year now. But, I keep looking. I also check up by our cabin, and no good deals there either. A lot of them require really large final totals, like you can get a $25 certificate for $3, but the minimum order is $50 on 2 meals only, which doesn't include alcohol, etc. For a family of 2, not worth it.

Thumbs up Go ahead!

Yep, we use them all the time! They frequently have 70% to 80% off offers, and they'll e-mail the codes directly to you once you're a customer. The "gimmick" is just that they're trying to get people to try new restaurants. Each restaurant prefers you only use ONE certificate per month, but I haven't found one yet that is tracking them. (We buy them at 70% oiff for a diner that we frequent, and save $10 off a $15 bill once a week!)

I suggest you buy ONE and try it out --- then you'll know how it works! Though 50% sounds like an enticing event, it's not...they have sales all the time, so just buy one or 2 to start out and see how you like it. It's important to remember that a $25 GC gets you $25 off a $35 ticket (in most cases). So click on the restaurant menu first...determine if you'd spend $35 on your meals and drinks. If so, no problem! Alcoholic drinks aren't included...and we're a couple, so we sometimes have a hard time hitting the $35 on 2 people. So in those cases we'll buy the $10 off $15 or $10 off $20 when they're 70% off.

Most certificates are good for a year. Some establishments put a 20% tip on the bill BEFORE the discount. I thought this was a bad thing...but finally figured out it makes it far easier to "hit" the $35 when the 20% tip is already counted!!

Oh --- and if a restaurant stops participating in the program, THEY e-mail to tell you and give you a credit to get another GC! If you try to use one and find the restaurant changed ownership and is no longer accepting them, you just call their toll free number or e-mail them and they issue you a credit to get a different GC. Easy!!

I have also used several of these gift certificates. I have 4 kids and it really helps defray the cost of our (large) meal. We have found some great restaurants by doing this!

I checked before we ordered just to make sure they knew what I had (a certificate from restaurant.com) and I have not had a problem.
