That's ok, the instructions at the link you posted are better than what I originally posted (more clear).

Thanks for the recipe. I will give it a shot in my front loader. I have been using Tide which I can find on sale for about $10 for a 64 load bottle. If I only need to use have the soap the home made recipe calls for I will save even more. Thanks again

Ok I have a question? I am interested in making this but I am allergic to ivory soap it makes me itch to no end...would this have a different reaction being a laundry soap and other things in it? If not I will use the other stuff..thanks

Default Savings on homemade detergent

I think that the homemade soap does save you money. Recently I purchased the Fels Naptha, Washing Soda and Borax. I think the total cost was around $8 for all three. I made the soap (on 2/7) and kept it in powder form. I am not sure how many loads you are to get from each batch that is made, but so far I have gotten 13 loads. I am very proud of myself and have made some homemade household cleaners as well.

Try it out! Good Luck!

Hmm, if you are allergic to Ivory I don't know if I would try it. I'd hate for you to make a whole batch and not be able to use it. Granted, it would be pretty diluted. Maybe you could try it, but just wash a few of your things (not underwear) in it to see if it bothers you.

If you try it with the Fels Naptha, you may want to test it first by rubbing a small spot on your inner arm and wait to be sure you are not sensitive to it too.
