I dedcided to make my 7 month old daughters baby food.. better for her and she wont touch the veggies in the jars! So the last two days I have made pears, apples, carrots, sweet potatoes, butternut squash and the bananas ( i just mash them as she eats them). My question is what kind of green veggies can I get to fix her? I am leary of her choking on peas and beans etc b/c I am worried I wont get the shells ground enough in the food processor?
does anyone have any great baby food recipes for veggies and different fruits or combos!? any suggestions on what other fruits and veggies! She is so gonna turn Orange with what I have so far! Thanks |

Sorry I missed this post last week. Too funny...my DD LOVED squash and sweet potatoes. Wouldn't eat anything green out of a jar. I had one of those baby food mashers (put the food in at the top, put the lid on and turn the handle until the food is as smooth as you want it. Can't remember what they're called. We got ours at a garage sale.) You can use it for meat, potatoes, rice, fruit, vegetables and any combination thereof. You could do fruit and cereal, meat/rice/vegetable, several fruits together, etc. One thing I wish we had done differently -- holding off on sweet-tasting foods till closer to one-year old.

I was given this WONDERFUL Organic Baby Food Recipes book. They are pretty simple but with sophisticated taste. I will PM you the title of the Book when I get home. (maybe you can get a copy on Amazon) What brand of baby food are you using? I only used Earths Best and my son pretty much loved all they had to offer. He has not really been a picky eater EVEN with what limited food options I gave him. ( We (mom & dad) are over weight people by nature and I was VERY slow at introducing solid foods) Now, at 20 months he is starting to eat table food BUT only on rare occassions is he allowed to have EVERYTHING we eat (ex: pizza or fried food)

We cooked peas and green beans and broccoli and baby spinach (or mixed greens). Then we used the blender and got things ground up well by adding water. We froze all things (not just the green ones) in ice cube trays. Then for food time I threw a variety in a bowl and thawed in the microwave. We started with single foods and worked up to the variety. The variety for when she was older was usually either sweet potatoe based or avacado based. Something like: 3 cubes avacado, 2 turkey, 1 green bean. Some of the combinations seems gross to me, but she went wild with delight.
