I need a recipe for slow cooker chili before this weekend. My family is having Christmas
in November that we have had every year since I was born. I am giving a slow cooker to my cousin. I would like to get a recipe for chili to give to her. I don't cook red meat, so I don't have a clue of what I would need.

I can never get my seasoning right so I love the packets of Chili Mix. McCormicks Mild to be exact...here's what I do for a slow cooker full of chili. I'm not real sure how big the slow cooker is, but mine is a 5 qt and this will fill it up so it's a lot, but it freezes great, and can be cut in half.
2-4 pounds ground beef (depending on how meaty you like your chili) 3 cans beans (i've use kidney beans and pinto's without the fat and both are great) 1 large onion chopped 1 bell pepper chopped 3 cans Tomato sauce (15 ounce i think) 3 packets of chili seasoning (more if you want a spicier chili) Brown the ground beef with onions and peppers. Drain. Put all ingredients in the slow cooker and mix well. If it's not full and not "juicy" enough add water. I let mine cook on low all day (about 8 hours). I hope it helps. |
