Default Fried fish dinner, hush puppies and seasoned corn on the cob

OK I've had these hush puppies at a fish restaraunt, but it was my first time making them at home. There isn't any seasoning besides salt, but they were very flavorful (I thought they would taste bland-I was wrong). I don't have a deep fryer just used a frying pan, they don't come out like perfect balls this way but are delicious! I served them with some cod, I used the Mccormick beer batter mix to fry the fish. YUM. I also served corn on the cob, wrapped in foil in the oven, with garlic powder/salt/pepper/parmesan cheese/butter inside the foil packets.

Ingredients
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, lightly beaten
3/4 cup milk
1 small onion, finely chopped
Oil for deep-fat frying

Directions
In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder and salt. Whisk the egg, milk and onion; add to dry ingredients just until combined.
In a deep-fat fryer or electric skillet, heat oil to 365°. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls into oil. Fry 2 to 2-1/2 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve warm. Yield: 4-6 servings.

your recipe is almost the same as mine but i add chopped fresh thyme and rosemary(or dried) it gives it so much more flavor and i go pretty heavy on the fresh, it's so good. if i want to switch it up, i add chopped jalapenos, i love hot spicy foods, the hottere, the better.
