This might sound weird, because it does to me. My mom's friend told her to make brownies using nothing but drained, rinsed, mashed up black beans. It seems like it would be too dry, doesn't it? Has anyone ever heard of this? Does it work?

I've heard of applesauce and canned pumpkin, but not black beans. But, I did find a recipe:
* Box of brownie mix * Pan * Oven * Can of black beans (12oz) * Water * Blender Open the can of black beans, dump into a strainer and rinse completely. Put the beans back into the can and put in enough water to cover the beans. Step 2 Dump the beans and water into your blender and puree well. Combine puree with brownie mix. Step 3 Bake according to box directions. Makes 20 brownies worth 2 Weight Watchers points each.

I have heard of this and my cousin made them. She said you can definitely tell the difference in texture and taste but they do they job for a healthy version of brownies. She does weight watchers and I think it cuts done the points a lot. Good Luck!!

I've heard of white beans in brownies as a sneaky health trick to get kids to eat more veggies. Did a search and found this recipe link. I don't care for black beans at all so I'm not sure I would venture a try at this one.

Actually the black bean brownies are really great. If you didnt know the beans were in there you couldnt tell by the taste. I like them.

Holy Cats! It's actually a valid recipe. Ok, then. I think I might try it, just to see how it turns out. I have another Weight Watcher's recipe too, using a can of soda to make a cake. I guess you put in your can of warm soda and nothing else. Use a coke for a chocolate cake and sprite for a white/yellow cake. Haven't tried that one yet either, but soon.

The brownies made with black beans are fantastic! Very moist & delicious! I've had the cake made with soda as well--VERY NICE! Has the texture of an angel food cake and either choc or vanilla taste extra yummy w/ cool whip on top instead of icing! To the doubters--try it--you'll like it!
