Default Healthier Apple Crisp??

Someone who I used to work with made this with whole wheat flour and maybe some Splenda. Maybe if someone has a regular recipe i could also modify it. Any help would be great because I just picked some apples and want to cook up something tomorrow on my day off!

Splenda has a recipe category at their website. They also send out emails with recipes in them.

Splenda | Entry

couldn't hurt to take a look and see if you can find that particular recipe.

Default Fruit Crisp recipe

I have made this before and the crisp part is so good. I've made it with peaches and blueberries too when they're in season (and on sale!). Don't know how you could substitute butter for something healthier since cold butter is best when cutting into something to make coarse crumbs, but it's only 1/4 cup.

Fruit crisp

5 cups sliced, peeled apples, pears, or peaches
2 tbsp flour (sub whole wheat flour)
2-4 tbsp granulated sugar (sub splenda if you wish)
1/2 cup regular rolled oats
1/2 cup packed brown sugar (can use splenda brown sugar I assume)
1/4 cup flour (whole wheat)
1/8 tsp cinnamon, and 1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup chopped nuts if desired

Place fruit, 2 tbsp sugar and 2 tbsp flour in 2 qt baking dish (I like to use individual custard dishes). For topping, combine oats, brown sugar, 1/4 c flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cut in butter uuntil mixtiure resembles coarse crumbs, stir in nuts if using, and sprinkle over fruit. Bake at 375 for 30-40 minutes, or until fruit is tender and topping is golden. If desired, serve with vanilla ice cream.

Duh! That's a great idea. I was looking at Food Network, Rachel Ray etc. I found one that I may try. Thanks!

Oh, thank you! This sounds really good. I'll probably just use butter because everything else will be a little healthier.

I've been baking with Smart Balence 50% butter sticks. Some recipes don't always come out so great but Apple Crisp is fine

My recipe is:
4 to 5 apples peeled and sliced
3/4 cup flour
1 cup sugar - I use Splenda here
1 stick butter ( I use the Smart balence)
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teas nutmeg

Slice apples, sprinkle with orange juice, arrange in greased pie pan. Mix flour, sugar spices and butter, blend till crumbly. Sprinkle over the top
Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes
