Ok so after reading this thread I HAD to make iced tea. I used half raspberry tea bags an half regular, then added a spoonful of froz. OJ since I did not have limeade. So good. Also since its still in the 90s here in Miami.

Just looked at my bottle of Fruit Fresh (for canning). Contents are basically Dextrose (sugar), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), and Citric Acid. If you can add it to canned goods, I am sure you could add it to a drink. Plus you can fight off all those winter colds with the Vitamin C. Might be worth a try.

I love the limeaide idea!

My family drinks about 3 liters of iced tea/day. I was buying Turkey Hill, but it was so expensive! So, I tried the Lipton Cold Brew. My family loves my iced tea. I use a 3 liter pitcher, fill with tepid to warm water, put in two cold brew bags (they are extra large), and one regular tea bag of some fruit flavor ~ my kids like berry. I steep for about 8 minutes, put in four Splendas, and it's done. My family does not like sweet tea, if you do,use more splenda or sugar. If you use sugar, make the water a little warmer, so the sugar will melt. Inexpensive, easy, and refreshing.

I have a friend who saves the juice from canned/jarred fruit and uses that to sweeten iced tea. It's very good.

well....when the sun is out (in Michigan, in the fall that's not too often!)....I fill a 1 gallon glass jug with water and four tea bags of my choice...depending on what I want that day....stick the jug outside in the sun and by dinner time...I have tea...

but all this talk of limeade, lemonade and orange juice add ins, got me to thinking about a recipe I used to make for a vodka slush that uses green tea, limeade, lemonade and a fifth of vodka...and with the flavored vodkas they have now....I'm going to have to dig that out and mix some up and try out something different.

that sounds very nice and refreshing...I've never done the half and half that's pretty smart.....adding frozen oj would make it fruity...yep, a new tea idea to try....

I hear its going to be hot all the way into next week....I wish it would drop just 10 degrees what a difference that would make......

I was hoping that someone would say something about the sun tea.

Thanks for the tips on the citric acid - I'll take a look in the canning section - you guys are simply brilliant! The limeade may do the trick as well, I'm game.

Cheers

Default iced tea maker

We use 6 bags of Decaf Lipton Tea per pitcher in our iced tea maker. Much easier. Just like brewing coffee, set it up, turn on and walk away.

If you are ever looking for a fancy iced tea, look up Paula Dean on Foodnetwork, it includes pinapple juice and some other yummy stuff.
