Default Vacuum sealers?

Are they worth buying (make freezing meals/food less expensive than using freezer bags which is my current system)? I'm new to this site and shopping method. I can probably get my mil to go in on one as they are expensive.

The only problem i know that my family has had is freezing raw hamburg meat because of the blood. It doesn't seal and you can't freeze marinades with them.

pretty much NO LIQUID of any types. other than that they love them and I grand parents have 2.

My MIL got me one for Christmas a couple of years ago and I LOVE it for freezing meat. I have never had freezer burn . I mainly use it for Chicken and Pork because we purchase a 1/2 beef every year (so that is already packaged up for me)

I tried to use it for freezing my shredded zucchini this year and that was a disaster! Too much liquid so I went back to freezer bags for that.

I use our Foodsaver a lot. I bought mine at a yard sale for $20. I make a lasagna, quiche, or chicken enchilada casserole and freeze individual portions for easy lunches/dinners. I also save the dinner trays from Marie Callenders, etc frozen items and reuse those. They seal up nice and tight and I have my own (healthier) frozen meals to take out at the last minute.

I put a couple of paper towels folded up in the top of the bag with the raw hamburger and the towels soak up the excess liquid before it causes problems with sealing.

I love mine-also got it used. It really comes in handy when you buy meat in bulk. No more freezer burn. Too much liquid is sometimes a problem. Just happened last night-was trying to seal some fresh prawns. A little messy, but in the end-mission accomplished!
