Default I have a roast and Crock pot..Now what?

I am pretty tired of the typical pot roast with potatoes and carrots. Does anyone have any seasoning ideas? Interesting foods to throw in with the roast? Spicy, non-spicy, I'm not picky!

Best BBQ Beef-Super easy, family loves it. We have it at least twice a month!

Barbecued beef sandwiches, cooked in the slow cooker.
INGREDIENTS:
2 1/2 to 3 lbs lean chuck roast or bottom round-whatever is on sale!
1 1/2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup wine vinegar
2 tablespoons spicy mustard or Dijon
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
PREPARATION: I usually mix up the sauce the night before so all I have to do in the morning is put the roast in and pour it on top and its done.
Place beef roast in crockpot. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over roast. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours. Remove roast, shred meat. Place shredded meat back in crockpot; stir to coat well.
Spoon barbecued beef onto toasted sandwich buns and serve with extra sauce, if desired.
Serves 6 to 8.

Now that you have a crock pot, get the cook book "Fix it and Forget it". My experience has been that many of the meal selections have ingredients that are coupon bargains (if not practically FREE).

Lipton Onion/Mushroom instant soup is really good. Then when the roast is tender and removed from the pot, Pour the juice into a pan reduce by 1/2 by simmering and then stir in a can of campbells cream of mushroom or cream of celery to make a load of gravy.

Serve with biscuits or cornbread, rice or mashed potatos and your favorite vegetable.

Default My secret...

If you promise not to tell anyone, I'll give you my secret to the best roast beef you'll ever eat!

COFFEE....

Put two to three cups of brewed coffee, depending on how big your crock pot is, in with your roast. About half way up on the roast as it sits in the crock pot. Add a few drops of hot sauce, garlic powder, salt, pepper and I throw in some hot pepper flakes on occasion. Sometimes I just throw in carrots and onions and a few potatoes and it turns in to a delicious beef soup. It's delicious and makes for a killer gravy with a bit of cornstarch. The coffee also tenderizes the roast.

Never had anyone say that they didn't love my pot roasts!

I've heard of "red-eye" gravy made with coffee... never thought about coffee in a roast though... I'll have to try that one.
