I like them best with a little butter and parsley, reminds me of the fancy restaurant potatoes.

DH makes Tuna Surprise with them. Tuna, cream of whatever soup (celery is nice), peas and canned spuds if he doesn't have fresh. Heat it on the stove, pour it over toast. Walla! Kids seem to really love it. I do too.

I've browned up some chicken, added a can of mixed veggies, a can of potato's, a can of cream of chicken soup, a little salt, pepper, Lawry's and garlic. It's kind of like a chicken pot pie without the crust, or a chicken stew...

My sister uses the sliced ones for quick American fries... many uses, I usually try to keep them in the house.

These are all great ideas. I always have a can available and tend to use when we're doing a quick dinner and I need a side. Also if we're doing eggs and want some sort of potatoe side - they are just so quick. My mother used to throw them into the pot roast pan.

I never had a canned potato in my life until I moved in with my DH. He and his kids used them ALL the time for quick snacks....fried up with salt and pepper...

Now I don't know what I would do without them. I use them in just about everything....soups, stews, cassaroles etc...if I don't have fresh potatoes on hand for pot roast....I throw in a can or two of the whole ones with the meat and carrots towards the end of the cooking time.

The only thing I haven't tried them in is cold salads....mhmmm....I might have to try that.

I've also never been one to use canned potatoes but i bought a few cans in walmart one day, I actually bought the walmart brand(great value I think it's called) being that i don't drive and it's difficult to run out to the store with the 2 little ones i thought it would be a good idea to keep some for emergencies maybe if we have bad weather or something and i used one just the other day in a quick soup i put together and if i didn't know they were canned, i couldn't tell the difference. i really like that brand now for the potatoes because they were diced in very small pieces. it was well worth it.

oh! I forgot about my quick chowder recipe.

diced onion
diced carrot
diced celery
chopped raw bacon
olive oil
diced potato
clams w juice.
water or clam juice
instant potatoes

in large pot, saute onion, carrot, celery and chopped bacon until bacon is cooked through and is starting to brown well. Add the whole can of clams with juice.. and then add bottled clam juice or water. Add diced potatoes. Simmer well... add instant potatoes and milk to thicken. Salt and pepper to taste.

Options: Instead of clams/clam juice
1 can Creamed corn (corn chowder is wonderful)
1 box or 2-3 cups of frozen mixed veggies (I rinse in hot water first)
1 cup or more of ham, chicken broth

sounds really good, very similar to the one i make but i use corn and alot of dried oregano also, never did the instant potato thing tho because i like it kind of soupy, not so thick but i actually made some just last weel and played with it a bit, try adding some nice thick catfish fillets cut into medium size chunks and some shrimp, i even started the whole thing with calamari, oh goodness, i can't begin to tell you what a fish chowder this turned out to be. just one thing, the catfish can go in at the last 10-15 mins of cooking, absolutely fantastic.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

I made breakfast burrito this week and DH wanted potatoes in them but I was already done making them. Now I can put canned potatoes in them and still be fast and easy!!! Sweet.
