Last night I wanted to make broccoli slaw, my MIL makes it but I never have. I got on-line and did a search and came up with a recipe, but low and behold I did not have sesame oil, sesame seeds or slivered almonds in the house, so I improvised from the stockpile and it's pretty yummy.
2 bags broccoli slaw (on sale 10/$10 with a $.50 peelie that doubled) = $90 2 bags ramen noodles crushed with a rolling pin (on sale 10/$1) = $.20 1/4 sunflower seeds (on sale $1/bag used maybe 1/10 of the bag) = $.10 1/2 cup margarine (on sale with a coupon) = $.02 3/4 bottle Kraft toasted sesame dressing (on sale w/ a coupon) = $.08 1 Tbls minced sugared ginger - optional could be substituted with ground ginger or ginger root 1 tsp of one ramen noodle seasoning packet (give or take) pepper 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic In a frying pan melt butter or margarine, then throw in crumbled ramen and sunflower seeds, stir constantly and saute until golden brown (this happens quickly), shut off heat and set aside. Mix everything else together in a large bowl and then fold in noodles and seeds. Serves maybe 10-12 for $1.30.

That sounds soo good! I got some broccoli slaw at Krogers awhile back (in the deli) and it was fantastic. It had raisins and carrots in it I think. But they've recently discontinued ALL of their deli salads!
(They do still sell a few kinds like potato salad and macaroni salad but they are pre packaged in the plastic tubs...no more fresh!) I will have to try your recipe. You didnt really pay $90 for the bags of broccoli slaw though, did you!?

Hmmm...I'm on the fence about this one, but I'd give it a good college try.
![]() Recipe reminded of one my favorite summertime ones that mom used to make. Broccoli, meatballs, and spaghetti... Have to ask her(again) how to make it. Something she does always made it better then my version.
