OK, so not quite a recipe. But I bought some of the Hostess donettes with a Q. Got them at a really good price, so thought I'd try freezing some of the chocolate ones to see how they would fare. Wasn't sure if the chocolate coating would survive a freeze/thaw cycle.
Took them out a day later, was going to let them thaw. Then on a whim, decided to try eating one frozen. Yum! Nice, cool treat, especially on a hot summer day. Never bothered to thaw them, just popped the rest back in the freezer until next snack time.

Hadn't thought of freezing donuts. I'll have to try it.
A lot of the snack cakes are yummy frozen. I love the ding-dongs, Ho-Hos (sp?), oatmeal cakes, & lots of others. The kids love them too. Bonus - not as messy as ice cream sandwiches! If you've got leftover cake, get sandwich size bags & freeze slices. Often I do this when my family has a big get-together. We always make WAY to much sweets. Everyone takes some home & its still more than we can eat before it goes bad. So, I toss it in the freezer. Makes a wonderful quick dessert! Another good freezer treat is frozen pudding cups. Suprisingly, even individual yogurt cups/squeeze tubes are great too. My kids esp like the pudding/yogurt b/c so similar to ice cream. |

Oooooh, I haven't had one of these since I was a kid! And guess what I bought last week with my free Mars Chocolate Relief Act Qs, paired with the Rite Aid BOGO deal...10 Snickers bars. Yay! Gotta put them in the freezer now!

Mmm, I love frozen snack cakes, and I will have to try freezing the Hostess donuts.
One caution about freezing candy bars...I used to work as a dental assistant and we would occasionally get patients who had a crown come off from eating frozen candy or frozen candy bars. This tended to happen a few weeks after Halloween, but it could happen anytime. So if you have crowns or fillings or anything that MIGHT cause a problem, let the candy thaw just a bit first. Oh, and that reminds me of something that is useless but possibly interesting trivia ~ we used to remove crowns in the dental office by using Jolly Ranchers, which were very similar to the crown removers sold in dental catalogs, but much cheaper. Mind you, we had to soften the Jolly Rancher in a cup of water in the microwave for a few seconds first. Disclaimer: I am NOT trying to imply that Jolly Ranchers will inadvertantly remove crowns. We did have to use some technique to make it happen.

We place alot of things on the freezer around here, especially in the summer months. We freeze Capri-suns, ding dongs, twinkies, crocodiles (they are a mix between ding dongs and twinkies, I think). It's easier to clean than a popsicle
