yep in this household due to allergies no milk, cheese, eggs , no dark meat of chicken, no peanut butter, no tomatos etc. The health food store was my salvation. Now there are so many substitutes but back then I just found a way around........guess I learned to become a better cook as a result

Yeah, I guess. You'd have to get very creative. I'd have to learn all over again how to cook and throw out everything I learned growing up.

Actually, I DETEST eggs! LOL And, I don't like dark meat chicken. But, we persevere, I'll eat boatloads of toast and bacon.

LOL I went on a fat free kick a while back and everything had to boiled broiled or baked. I wanted to make spaghetti so I Boiled my hamburger. NOW THAT is fat free. LOL it's a pain to drain though.

I always add water to my beef when cooking, too. I plop the burger in the pan, add about 1/4 to 1/2 C of water, put a lid on for a few seconds over a medium heat and use my tater masher to break it up. When the burger is done, it's small little bits rather than big chunks (large chunks don't seem to go as far in feeding a family, IME). I learned this when working in restaurants, and just took it home with me. I use a colander to drain the beef and because it's already watered down, I run a stream of hottest water into my disposal and let the beef drain. I'll run straight Dawn into the disposer (while it's running and let it foam up) to clean any grease residue left behind.

Lol I use a turkey baster (have never used it on a turkey) and keep the grease in a jar, ......amazing how much fat drains off THEN I rinse with the hot water.........
