Default Crockpot for Haluski

I made haluski last night (noodles with cabbage and onions). I made this for an International Food Festival at a friend's house. Everyone is bringing something from their nationality - I am Slovak. Anyway, I want to transport the haluski in a crockpot since it will be easier to keep warm.

My question is ... when should I put the Haluski in the crockpot so that it does not over cook? I have to be there in 2-1/2 hours from now. Should I start now and put it on low? Is it too early? I just don't want the noodles to be mushy.

thanks!

I called my grandmother, since she makes this for every holiday. She said about an hour ahead put it on Low.

Default Thank you for going the extra mile!

Wow thanks for calling your grandma. That was really sweet of you.

The party went well and all the haluski went! It was the first time I made it.

Thanks again!

Hilarious that your first post is about Halushky!

I just made the stuff then put it in a crockpot to keep it warm. It all went by the way!

I just made one full package of egg noodles. (Did that near the end)

I used 1.5 stick of butter, a little at a time. I sauteed the onion then the cabbage, cut into squares. I sauteed the cabbage at least 15 minutes on medium low. I got the tip to take your time in sauteeing the cabbage from a friend.

Anyway, once the cabbage and onion are sauteed, you just mix it together with the noodles and add salt.

There might be other recipes out there but this worked for me! Best of luck!

It was no problem calling grandma. Her first question though, was "Is she using noodles or dumplings?" lol
