You have to get an eye exam in addition to the contacts. You can't buy them from discounters like 1-800-Contacts or Wal-Mart. But if you are in the DC Metro area, My Eye Dr does price matching. (Worth asking at other optometrist offices to see if they do the same.)

I just got an exam and didn't plan to buy contacts from them because their prices are higher than 1-800-Contacts. When I told the woman that I wanted to get my prescription in order to get my contacts elsewhere, she said that they price match.
