    Default Honeysuckle smoked turkey question...

I will be hosting the Thanksgiving lunch party at my house this year. My husband's family likes Smoked Turkey..I've been thinking about getting the Turkey now but I just can't figure out if paying around $10 for a 10 lbs fully cooked Turkey (at Tom Thumb while supplies last) is a good deal. Could you Please more experienced shoppers tell if I can get it cheaper or this is a good deal? Thanks!!!

Default smoked turkey...my 2 cents only worth one cent!

Kroger has turkey for .39 cents a lb but not smoked/fully cooked so if you think about it your paying .61 cents lb for them to cook it and smoke it. We have a smoker that we use and it cost us around 60.00 for the smoker, its electric and it takes some time and effort to smoke meat, so depending on your skill of cooking or is this your first time to cook a turkey? I would ask whats it worth to you to buy it precooked/smoked? For me when I was younger I would have wanted it precooked/smoked. It would make your dinner much less stressful. Then you mainly would only need to heat it up and worry more about your side dishes. My parents were divorced when I was younger and my daddy always bought a precooked smoked turkey and it was yummy considering he wasn't the best cook in the world it was a safe bet for good meat!. He can cook but mom can cook better sorry dad...but he knows it's true.lol

Thanks for your reply and suggestions. I'm a considerably good cook (at least is what my Hubby and his family says). I always like doing everything from scratch...like I'll be making all my desserts from scratch as I love to bake. I've never thought about getting a smoker and preparing it myself. I've never done anything smoked...but hey...I can follow instructions..Lol...$60 for a smoker...hummmm not sure if I want/can invest on it right now but I will consider getting one when I find a good sale. Thanks so much for your suggestions!!!

i got those smoked turkeys last year. That's a good deal to be honest for an already cooked bird. It's pretty juicy, too.
