Default Ground Beef & Chkn Breast $1.99 per lb

Just today I found 90/10 Ground Beef and Boneless/Skinless Chicken breast for $1.99 per pound. These are the best prices I have found around the Austin area in a couple of weeks. Has anyone else noticed the prices of beef going up drastically?

In addition, the fritos and cheetos are on sale with card and store coupon for $1.49 per bag (regular price is $3.99). So, I walked out with the store coupon limit of 4 bags.

DH and I haven't had much beef (except ground beef) because I won't pay $3.50# it. I have a hard time paying $2.50# for meat, but I did the other day because we haven't had any beef...

Ground beef is one of my never pay more than items. I refuse to pay more than $1.99 a lb and chicken breasts of more than $ 1.66 a lb.

Wow, if I could find 90% ground beef for $1.99 a pound I would buy 20+ pounds, good for you! It runs $3.49-$3.99 or more a pound here for 90%+. Like you, mnm'z I have not seen $2.99 a pound in a long time.

I think it may be because i am in the midwest. Prices are generally cheaper here than other areas of the country.

All 3 of us are in the midwest... Michigan, Indiana and not sure where you are Jilly... I haven't seen Gr. Beef under $2 # for several weeks, maybe months. $2.29 # is the cheapest price for 80/20, and if I'm looking at a roast? They're upwards of $10 for a roast that might feed us for 1 meal and a lunch for DH... I just can't do it. LOL! The Dutch in me comes out and my hands curl up so I can't get into my wallet.

I am in Nebraska. I was talking about 80/20. The other stuff is too expensive. :-) Their are 6 of us (4 teens) so I rarely buy roast which we love about a month ago, Fareway had roast on sale for 1.99 a pound. So, I bought 4 of them. lol
It's usually ground beef or chicken around here unless I get the reduced stuff. Their is a new WalMart around here in a wealthier part of town. The place is never busy and always has good reduced meat. So, I usually meat shop there and stick it in one of my freezers.
