    Thumbs up Updated Coupon Policy

    Randalls - coupons policy

The coupon policy changed at Safeway stores (including Randalls). Link above.

Here's the best line of the updated policy:
    9. Safeway will accept valid Catalina manufacturer coupons that are issued to a customer by another retailer.
I went to my nearby Randalls this morning & had a chat with the store manager about the new policy (which I'd printed and highlighted #9). I showed him several different catalina coupons from various stores (Target, Walgreens, Randalls) to confirm which ones they'd take and wouldn't take. I already knew which ones they SHOULD take, but used the demonstration as a way to ask a question so he could confirm.

The best part was, by me talking to him about it, some nearby cashiers heard and this started a discussion about the new policy. They were still talking about it after I got my groceries, checked out (using a $10 RR from Walgreens & paying $0.13 oop), and was heading to the car.

For some reason, I got a 70 cent credit on my tax. My total should've been $.83 after coupons, but tax was -0.70, so I only paid $0.13. I'll take it!

The Wags RR is a true catalina, whereas the ECB's are not. The Wags RR says "manufacturer coupon", so I can see how it would be accepted.

Way to go NatPatBen!!! That is a great Heads Up play!!! Very impressive!

I just got to thinking...it's sad it took a customer to educate the store manager. A change - especially one this big - should have been announced from corporate. What are these companies thinking?? All they do is make our experiences more frustrating.

True. Even one of the cashiers this morning was complaining "They never tell us about things like this." Definitely room for improvement in the communications department.

Thanks for the explanation. I have never shopped at Wags... The closest one is about 1 hour away.

Unhappy No more RR @ my Randalls

After 2 weeks of using RR's at Randalls, today I went in, got my items, and attempted to use one $7.50 RR.
The cashier and person working up front (front end manager?) told me that they will only take mfr coupons from other retailers for specific products, not "off your order" coupons (like the RRs).

I asked when this changed, as I last used an RR last Saturday. He said the day after I used one, they had a talk about it.

I definitely plan to check with corporate on this. Because the RRs scanned with no problem in the past, and the official coupon policy doesn't have the caveat the store just implemented. Worst case scenario: corporate agrees with the store or says the store can further restrict its policy at will. Best case scenario: I can use RRs again!

Update: I saw that Safeway stores (inc Randalls) updated their coupon policy AGAIN on June 18 to add a restriction to the June 9 update on using catalinas from other stores. It now says you can only use Catalinas on specific products.

So guess I won't chat with the store mgr or corporate on this.

If I'd had any thought that this was going to end so soon after it began, I would've bought WAAAY more groceries using all the RRs I had before the policy changed again. Oh well.

Today my manufacturer coupons beeped at checkout and the store manager said that they no longer accept IP coupons. Their policy online states that IP coupons must go through in order to be accepted. I was very disappointed. Too many manufacturer coupons beep even though they are perfectly legit. I guess now they just won't force them through. I also noticed no more using 2 coupons on BOGO deals.
