I saw something interesting the other day on Myspace...I know...but it was cool. Where you upload your photos you can pick out 5 pictures and it will automatically set them up and print so that you can trim them and create a photo cube.
For younger children, you could take pictures of the basics...like HOME, MOM, DAD, BROTHER, CHURCH, etc. Put the bold caption/description underneath it and make an educational book out of it. Or I suppose you could make them like flash cards.
One year we used recycled photo frames with our favorite photo of us and another family member, then scrapbooked around it a quote relating to the relation....i.e. "Sisters are just two chapters from the same book!" or something more meaningful. I think you get the point.
Alot of the things I do I laminate because I have a laminator, to make them a little more sturdy, but you can buy the tacky book/shelf clear cover to accomplish the same thing.

Post Kodak gallery

Hey
For signing up a new account with Kodak Gallery you can get 75 free prints. They are credited to your account. All you would end up paying is shipping. On the site the also have mugs, calendars, my favorite is the one I want to get for the hubby a mouse pad with a pic of our girls on it. But n-e way this could be an inexpensive way to pics.

Default sister

I found an old black and white picture of myself with my 2 older sisters at our mom's house one day. I took the picture to a local photo center and they restored the picture and made me 2 copies. I then found some nice black frames at Kmart on Thanksgiving for B1G1F. I plan on writing each of my sisters a personal note to let them know how much they mean to me and how much they have helped me through the years. All this for $7 each.

My SIL's got all the nieces and nephews together this summer to recreate a photo my MIL had taken of her kids almost 30 years ago. She had 9 children. When the youngest was a baby she dressed all the kids up and recreated the nativity scene - Mary, Joseph, Jesus, angel, wise men, lambs. She taped lunch bags to the wall behind them in an outline of a stable. The photo is a family favorite. This new photo with the nieces and nephews has a few extra kids in it, but my SIL put lunch bags on the wall just like my MIL did. I have a feeling she is going to love it!

I seen that a week or so ago at vistaprint (link is on couponmom website, I think main page) that they had photo calendars, desk calendars and I think a couple of other photo gift items and the best thing was that they were FREE and you just had to pay shipping and handling, which is very reasonable.

great site Photobook Mom, thanks...I am a scrapbooker so I can always use codes for free or cheap photos, they can be quite expensive otherwise

BTW the target deal no longer applies, they use to do it that way but now they charge you for the cd and per negative...i think it was like 24 cents...believe me I was disheartened by it, if anyone knows a place where they will scan negatives and old photos cheaper please PM me, I'd appreciate it

KristenLee please pm me with the code, thanks

It's not too late for last minute photo gifts for Christmas!
Snapfish is offering a free shipping upgrade on photo calendars. Their website says they can ship several photo gifts and have them arrive by 12/24. Snapfish is currently offering $5 off on purchases over $15 with coupon code TAKE$5. When you order from Snapfish, you have the option of having the order shipped or picking it up at your local Walgreens or other stores.
