    Default 3 strikes and Dollar General is out.

    Well, yesterday I had my third and very last try at Dollar General, and I will never go back.

    I went to their website and printed the STORE Qs, thinking I would have no problem,right? I went in with $18.00 in qs and asked the guy when I came up to the counter, "Do you want to scan the qs as you ring up, or have them all at the end?" He said he'd ring up as they went thru. No problem, right?

    One thing has always bugged me about this store. You can't see anything-- totals, qs, nothing-- as you ring up. They don't want you to see their mistakes, I'm thinking.

    So he rings me up, everything seems to scan....he hands me the receipt and says, "You saved $10.00 today!" I didn't even have to look at the receipt to say back to him, "That's great, but I had $18.00 in coupons."

    I didn't want to hold up the line, so I walked out to my car and saw that they hadn't credited me for a BOGO on Jet Dry-- buy one, get a 12-pack of Finish tabe for free, and didn't credit the free Jell-O with Cool whip purchase, plus one other store q I cant remember, but it totalled $8. ( i learned the hard way that I need to total my qs in my head ahead of time, bc one they put them in the envelope or drawer,it's very hard to get them to get them back out when you have a question.) I went back in and asked to talk to a manager. he said there wasn't one on site. I said "Look, I don't want to be a b*tch and hold up all these people, but I figure you owe me about $8.00." His response, "well, the computer says they all scanned so I don't know what to do other than have you return ALL your items and we can go over it again."

    RETURN ALL MY ITEMS AND SCAN THEM ALL AGAIN? Yes, that was his brilliant solution.

    Forget it . I walked out and will never return. Three times i've shopped there and three times they've screwed up my qs. the ironic part was, the ones that screwed up their computer were their own store qs printed from their site!!!

    Never again. Thanks for letting me vent.

    I have problems at dollar general also. I agree I hate the fact that I can't see anything that rings up. I rarely go there. Once in a blue moon. I have boycotted a particular store because of a crazy manager. They had a sign hanging in the wrong place. So she claimed. It was clearly with the item that I bought. It wrang up different so I questioned it and even showed her the sign. She ripped it down and would not honor the price! I was shocked. She said I was in the wrong?! Ummmm yeah you people put the wrong sign up and I am wrong/ WOW. I told her I would call the cooperate office which I did, and have never been back. Grrrrrr I go to a new one and they are friendly even when they screw up.

    EMAIL CORPORATE!!! I did that and recieved a phone call from the store manager the next day. He found my number in the phone book and begged me to shop there again.
    I watch every item ring , never trust any store. I check all before I pay . The managers HATE when the corporate office is involved and will do almost anything to fix a problem
    that is fixable. Please email them, they need to know what is happening there

    Same here.........after one call to Corporate CS, the snarky manager at my nearest DG couldnt be sweeter. You can tell it pains her. After several run ins with her I also told myself never again......but after being ASSURED by corp that I would have excellent service, I did go back. Granted, at first it was purely out of spite, but I have limited options out here in the wilderness and DG is right on my way home. I coupon shop by the book and I expect to be treated like a person, not a shoplifter.

    I also have a terrible time with Dollar General. I have swore never to go back in there again. I think that was about 6 months ago when I made this packed with myself.

    Today was the first time I'd ever been to Dollar General. Thanx to all of your comments I went in well-prepared. The store is about 8 miles further than WalMart & Sam's, not very big, and not very organized. Even tho I didn't find everything on my list, the check-out went very smoothly. I asked the cashier if she wanted my Q's now, with each product, or at the end. She took them at the beginning, but scanned them at the end. I received credit for all ($12.25), and she was very pleasant.

    My doctor is just past the store, so I'll probably go then, but why drive further for a smaller store with fewer products and know that I'll still have to stop at WalMart or Target anyway?

    I go to $ General all the time, it's within walking distance of my home. I don't usually do too much couponing there, yes the prices are decent, but the size of the product's are typically smaller and I used to be able to get better deals at the drug stores with ECBs or RRs... but I get all of my work supplies there.

    I find that the general attitude at the store employee level reflects the manager's attitude. There have been several manager's at that store and if it's a grumpy mgr... the employees are not as nice. The one gal, Jody, was an awesome mgr and her people were always pleasant. One mgr scoffed at me because I wouldn't buy the brand name oven cleaner since $ General brand was out of stock... Heck no! it's $1 more and I need 10 cans... I'm not spending an extra $10 in your store because your butt is too lazy to walk to the stockroom and check to see if you have more. He didn't last too long.

    I'll typically let bad service slide a time or two, because you just never know what's going on in that person's life (death, illness, etc) and I may have caught them at that one second of ill temper, however, if it continues... I call
